Today will be my last day as the Mayor of the Tourism Department of Beladimma University because I resigned from my position a week ago.
I also finally dropped out of college, at syempre nagulat silang lahat dahil hindi nila 'yon inaasahan.
Sinubukan nila akong kumbinsihin na mag stay dahil daw dalawang taon nalang ay gagraduate na ako at sayang daw dahil ako ang first rank since first year, pero buo na ang desisyon ko.
Tapos isa pa, pwede naman akong bumalik sa pag aaral anytime and I wouldn't stop learning.
Hindi naman kami magkaaway, so I was also showing my support to her even though Thany was my bet.
They started the campaign right after they filed for candidacy when I withdrew, and they'll be having their last speech today because election na.
We were in the conference room with the other officers and advisers of the Department while a large television screen in front of us displayed a poll because the election will be conducted online because we were still in a school break.
Naging paspasan lang dahil kailangan na talagang may maelect na Mayor to make the organization firm.
"Ako ang kinakabahan. Masusuka yata ako," Jake whispered beside me as Thany made her way to the mini platform to start her last speech.
Nandito rin kasi siya to support her, at siya nga ang nangunguna sa campaign.
"Wag kang kabahan. Magaling 'yan si Thany," Wren assured him.
He was also here because I was here. That was the only reason dahil kung nasaan ako ay naroon din siya.
"Silence, you two." Mahina ko silang siniko nang sabay dahil nakaupo sila sa magkabilang gilid ko.
Thany cleared her throat and it echoed through the microphone, so they already fixed themselves on their seats, while I stared at her with encouragement when our eyes caught each other.
She smiled at me a little before meeting everyone's eyes in this four corners room.
"Hello, good morning, everyone. I am Bethany Guttierez, and it is the greatest honor to stand before all of you today." She paused for a second.
I could sense her nervousness from here but she was actually doing good.
She was also part of the debate society and she was actually good at public speaking. Kinakabahan lang siya ngayon dahil talagang biglaan 'tong election at wala siyang balak na tumakbo kung hindi lang ako umalis.
But I know that she'll be a good Mayor.
I was so sure of it because she was already a good secretary. She was also hardworking and so smart.
She ended her speech with a strong statement that earned claps from every person in the room. Pero masyadong extra si Wren at Jake kaya may pa-standing ovation pa sila.
"Ang galing." Jake shook his head with matching slow claps as he sat back on his chair.
I congratulated Thany when she went back to her seat in front of me, while she just smiled because she was still recovering from the pressure of delivering her speech.
