the last time i was on a flight with juni i had lina with me. maybe she wasn't the best companion, but at least i had someone. it's just juniper and i on this flight, which meant i was initially so very nervous.

but thank goodness my daughter decided to be an angle from the heavens above today and just minded her own business while strapped onto my body. when we got onto the plane, people kept giving me dirty looks and i just stared right back at them, despite actually hoping that she wouldn't be too bad on the ride. which she wasn't actually, the plane was pretty steady the whole time, turbulence was very minimal, and she wasn't scared at all.

actually she was the star of the plane, the flight attendants loved her. she was such a smiley little girl the whole time. i was immensely grateful for that cause our flight was actually at seven in the morning and we arrived at one, a whole day ahead of us and i wasn't as exhausted as i thought id be.

before we landed i put juniper back in her baby carrier so i was able to easily make my way out of the plane and grab my bags at baggage claim. dad was gonna pick me up and so i called him to ask where he was not realizing that he was waiting for me right outside my gate. "daddy!" i felt like a little girl running into her fathers arms after the first day of school.

"my delilah." he held me in his arms. "and her little one, juniper." he placed one of his palms on her back.

"i missed you so much." i swallowed the not in my throat.

"i've got ya now, come on. let's get you two home." he rubbed my back for a few moments before he helped me with my bags and led me to the car.

"took me a while to remember how to fasten that thing." he told me as i buckled juni in her car seat.

"you did a great job, it doesn't even wiggle around." i told him.

"obviously, my grand daughter deserves the best!" he told me, before i got into the car myself. "your mom has been runin around the whole entire house gettin it ready for you and juni."

"i told her not to worry herself too much, im only here for a little over a week." i said.

"let her be, retirement does not suit her." he told me.

"she really should consider joining a club of some sort." i told him.

"or three, maybe that'll keep her busy." he replied.

"emphasis on maybe." i laughed.

"go greet your mom, ive got juniper." he told me once the car was parked.

"you've got her?" i made sure he was up for it, even though i was practically shaking to see her. "okay." i swung the door open, leaving it that way when he nodded.

"mom!" i yelled opening the door from the garage, leading me straight inside. "mommy!" i yelled.

"im here!" her voice was getting closer and then we met halfway in the hallway. "oh my beautiful lila." she squeezed me tight.

"i missed you mommy." i teared up, taking in her scent that i so desperately longed to smell again. "i needed you."

"i know honey, i missed you too." she rocked me from side to side. "i've got you now."

"kate, look at how big juniper is! she looks so much like delilah now!" dad came up from behind me.

"ohhhh look at her, she is beautiful!" mom losened her arms around me. "you are raising a very special child, i am so very proud of you." mom held my face and then walked over to dad and took juni from his arms.
