"delilah kate lewis." i walked into this fancy spacious office. "it is very nice to finally meet you." i shook hands with the gorgeous woman.

"likewise, thank you for taking the time to have this meeting." i firmly nodded and sat down.

"your mother, she's an artist." she stated.

"she is, based in new york and my father owns a gallery, displaying my mother's art along with others." i nodded, surprised that she recognized my name.

"i am familiar with your parents." she looked at the papers in front of her. "are you an artist as well?"

"not as good as my father used to be and not close to my mother at all, but i consider myself able." i replied. "i like to draw and paint with different mediums."

"your illustrations you sent, are those drafts of your own?"

"yes, only sketches of what i had in mind. i want to do the illustrations for the book cover." i replied.

"what about special editions? would you want to make exclusive versions? different illustrations?" she asked.

"yes! i would love to do that some day as well." i nodded. "i also work in the—."

"i know."

"so you know i know my way around how to promote things, i know how to work with digital art and media. i'd want to be very involved in the process of getting my book out there." i replied.

"you have alot of demands." she raised a brow at me and gave me a slight smirk.

"well, i worked very hard on that book and i am not going to slack off when im really close to the finish line. this has been my dream for such a long time." i replied.

"i like you, you're fiery. reminds me of someone." she looked at the pile of papers that contained the contents of my book. "we want you."

"okay, but what's the deal? how involved can i be? how will it work as far as royalties and cuts go?" i frowned.

"you're so much like your mother did you know that?" she fully smiled for the first time.

"how do you know her?"

"we used to be friends in college, just fell out after a while, but i always kept tabs on her." she replied. "listen delilah, before we start arguing and negotiating. i just wanted to let you know, if you decide this is the route you want to take i will make you the bestselling author, and if you don't.. i will respect that and i wont be surprised if you still made it as the bestselling author without me."

i called up dad's lawyer friend and sent him the contract i was presented and i started working on reading it as well. "oh! you have your glasses that have no true purpose but to make you feel smarter on. what're you doing? i thought you were good for the week." chloe was standing over me.

"just reading a contract." i replied.

"a bestseller book related contract?" she asked.

"nothing is official, im keeping my options open." i replied. "now please leave me alone, im almost done reading it and i need to call up my lawyer and ask some questions and what not."

"okay, i was going to ask you if you wanted to get lunch together but ill pick something up for you." she told me before walking out.

"hey mom." i called her up once i finished reading the contract.

"hi hon! how's billie doing? i'm sending all of you a gift. the package will arrive anytime this week." she told me.
