delilah
in the morning one of my team members called in sick and to my luck it was the person assigned to be present during today's interviews. everyone else had other work assigned for the day, so i drove to the location they were at right now myself. i had a few obstacles getting into the room where the interviews were being taken, but i managed.
when i walked into the room, billie and raymond were sitting next to each other, actively being interviewed. i smiled at the people i knew in the room and made my way behind the cameras quietly. "i was curious when i watched the film. was there anything specific you did to make sure that the emotions between the lovers resonated behind the camera and connected with the reviewers?"
billie spotted me, her eyes met mine and i swear they instantly lightened in color. "recalling." billie answered. "recalling moments in my own life when i looked at someone and the light in their eyes was so— special. remembering how every detail came together to make such an extraordinary moment and in that i think we both— we had that same goal. perfect the small moments, the little details, cause they are really shape an experience." and suddenly i was so aware of my breaths, she glanced back at me and then looked at raymond when he continued on to add to what she said.
i spaced out for a little while until i heard her say. "we are no experts in love, i am still trying to decipher what that means but all i know is that when you find something so delicate as that, you do everything you can to protect it and savor it. everything."
they wrapped up the interview and said their polite goodbyes before billie hurried over to me. "what are you doing here?" she held my arms and then my hands.
"elma the person that was supposed to attend called in sick, no one else could make it and so i'm here." i replied.
"i love you endlessly." she said just above a whisper.
"i love you endlessly." i cupped her cheek. i just admired how light her eyes were, i couldn't believe that they were real that—
"i don't think it's a good idea to fuck here." raymond told us. i felt like my eyes were being ripped away from her when i looked away and shot him a glaring look. "sorry." he looked between billie and i backing away one step. "but he's watching." he referred to their manager.
"he's right, we're done with our interviews. we have lot to do at home, i'm almost entirely packed up. maybe we should invite whoever can make it, the more people the faster we'll get going on the move in." billie told me.
"i have to stay for the next round of interviews, or mr angry bird will ruin the rest of the day of me." i whispered the second part.
"you can go, this interviewer seems to be civilized." i looked back at him and nodded. the three of us walked out together got in our cars and met at my house. we had music blasting through a speaker as we packed all that remained of everything we were taking with us.
i've been missing juniper so much lately, as she's been with luna most of these days. cause of two factors, the house is such a mess that it really isn't safe and i need to get things done. the second factor is, luna is going on a business trip soon and we wanted to make sure june didn't miss her too much.
when too many boxes were in the house, we loaded them into billie's car and mine. we said goodbye to raymond and drove to our new home. when we got there, we unloaded a few boxes. once we couldn't do it anymore we locked the door and opened a few of them instead. clothes in our closet. our closet.
"just when i thought i couldn't fall for you more, you proved me wrong." i found myself blurting out. ive been thinking about her answers all day, how she glanced at me, told me with her eyes, with her incoded words.
