My Only Hope

Chapter 42

Everyone was over for cams birthday. We had take out and we're just hanging out. It was nice to all be together.
There was a knock on the door.
"Who's that?" I ask cam and he shrugs.
"I don't know" he says and goes to answer it. We all kind of just awkwardly watch as he opens it.
"Cameron!" A lady cheers hugging him.
"It's his parents" nash whispers to me.
"Happy birthday cameron, we've had these plans for a week now" a man smiles hugging him.
"Wow guys It's nice to see you, come in" he says and his mom and dad come in.(not using their real names BC yeah)
It was 8pm and Jack and sadie had to leave because of carson. Nate leaves, sam leaves, and Jack and nash leave. Now it was really awkward.
"Mom, dad, this is lilly" cameron smiles.
"Oh you're just as pretty as cameron said you were!" His mom says and I laugh a little
"Nice to finally meet you, I'm Danny" his dad says
"Oh and I'm Sara" his mom says.
"Well it's nice to meet both of you" I say.
"Well uh this is my place I'll show you around" cam says. "Actually lilly grew up in this house"
"Really?" His mom says
"Yeah, it's kinda Like keeping it in the family" I laugh.
"Oh you two are engaged?" Danny asks
"Oh no we're not but-" cameron gets cut off.
"Well you can't just assume things" Danny says
"Assume what dad?" Cam asks
"That you guys will be together forever" he says and my heart drops.
"You know I'm kind of curious of why you suddenly care about me? Is it because I have a nicer house than you? That I'm actually doing something in my life? Or is it just because I'm finally happy with someone I love and you want to ruin it?" Cameron snaps at his dad.
"Cameron He didn't mean it like that" Sara tries to say.
"He always does this! This is why I didn't want you around lilly!" Cameron raises his voice
"Well what do you expect me too say? That you and lilly are going to live happily ever after?" He asks
"Me and cameron love eachother... A lot. We've also gone through a lot. We're not just throwing that all away" I say feeling confident.
"Well don't expect too much out of him then lilly, God knows thats the only way we've ever been able to be a parent to this kid" his dad says and Sara stayed quiet.
"Get out of my house" Cameron says.
"I'm your dad you can't kick me out." Danny says
"I'm 21, this is my house, and you are not my dad. Get out." He says
"Fine" his dad says storming out with his mom slamming the door.
Cameron sat down on the couch and I could see tears coming down his face.
"Cam.." I say quietly anD sit next to him.
"God why did I even let them in I'm sorry" he says
"Don't apologize cameron." I say.
"No matter how hard I try my parents always find a way to hate me" he says. "And I feel so insecure crying in front of you, this isn't me.." He says.
"It's okay, you don't have to feel insecure with me, and for what it's worth I love you. I'm not your parents but I do love you" I say.
"After all these years of feeling hated, you made me better. I love you so much lilly" he says
"I'm never leaving you okay?" I say.
"I know you won't"
(I know it's short but I felt that this needed it's own chapter bc feels)
