THAT SAME night, as the five were still all sitting around the campfire, Jake had Kie leaning against him, her eyes closed and holding tightly onto his arm when JJ spoke up, "growing up, Luke would always tell me when he was drunk off his ass, "if there's one thing I know, hell is other people." When I was a kid, I didn't get it." Jake looks over at him.
"It didn't make any sense to me." Both Kie and Jake are watching him now, Pope glancing up at the Maybank. "But then one day, I just decided to ask him. I said, "what do you mean, hell is other people?" And he looked at me for a while, then he just said, "just keep on living... and you'll find out." Luke's been wrong about a lot of things, but, man, was he right about that one. Went from a fake dad... to a real dad who just tried to kill me. Yeah, Luke. Yeah, I found out. Hell certainly is other people." JJ said as he now takes a swig of his beer. Jake glances at Kie who's already staring at him.
Later as it was just JJ, Kie and Jake by the campfire, all while Pope, Cleo, John B and Sarah are at the two hammocks, laying in them. "I just didn't think it got worse than Luke. But Groff?" Kie says as she looks up at JJ. "I'm sorry, I should have noticed..." Jake spoke up next, looking at the blond. "Jake. Kie." He opens the bottle in his hands.
"Your sympathy, thank you, but it doesn't do anything. This does." He raises the bottle, drinking from it as Jake looks down and Kie looks at him, face full of worry. "I'm only trying to help, Jay." Jake said quietly as Kie reached over, grabbing his hands gently. When JJ runs away, Jake looks up right away, "oh, shit, guys." The Maybank says loudly.
"What?" Kie said right away, standing up. "Who's coming out here this early?" Pope questioned when he spots the boat. "It's the cops." JJ said as Jake turns to Kie. "How did they find us?" She asked before looking over at the blond boy right away. John B, Sarah, Pope and Cleo all rushed over, watching the boat. "So what's the plan?" Pope asked them.
"Follow me. Let's go."
That's when the group ended up underneath the dock, following after John B the whole way. They hide underneath, watching as the cops get off their boat and make their way up the dock. "JJ Maybank!" One of them shouted. "JJ, we don't want to hurt you. Come on out." He shouted as Jake glanced at JJ.
The group now follow after Pope in the water. "I have an arrest warrant for JJ in connection to the murder of Hollis Robinson." At the cop's words, the group stopped and glanced back, Jake looking at JJ right away who turned back, a knife in his mouth. "Murder?" Kie whispers to the blond boy right away.
The group now reach the boat, "we'll take the pontoon. It's ready to go." John B had told them, so JJ climbs aboard the boat first, then the rest climb on after him and John B goes over to the steering wheel, driving off. "Stop! John B, turn it around! Stop!" The cops shout after the group of teens heading off in the boat. "So. I guess I'm the new murderer in town, then." JJ says suddenly, humour in his tone as he spoke. "Check that off the bucket list."
"Yeah, it doesn't help that they have you on video saying, "I will kill them all." Pope spoke up and JJ looks over at him, annoyance in his stare. "Okay, no one asked you, Pope. Okay?" He said as Cleo glanced at the others. "Forget all of that. We gotta get off this island." She said and Pope shakes his head. "I can't go back." He said, meaning the fact that he ran away from his dad. For the second time.
"I mean, might as well go after that scroll, right?" The Heyward then asked the group. "I mean, I could be down for a little Moroccan vacay." JJ said, smiling. "What do you say we get out of Dodge for a few weeks? And maybe... I could catch up with my dad." He said and Cleo looks around, before looking at John B. "We're gonna need a bigger boat. Hell, a ship, maybe. You know how far Morocco is? Way, way, way out there." She says.
