X. The Cycle of Life.

     

     AFTER A thirty minute break for Kie, Sarah insisted she stays and watches Evie the rest of the time that they are there, claiming she doesn't surf that much and she was still a beginner, so Kie returns to the boys, smiling big and telling them what Sarah had said.

The group of four in the water now begin going one by one, surfing the waves like they had been doing since they got here, JJ had gone last as Kie, John B and Jake are in the water, talking to one another. Jake splashes John B with the water and then the other does so, to him before he splashes Kie next, the girl giggling and splashing the boys back.

Topper and Kelce aren't far from them, JJ filling that gap between Jake and Topper, making his boyfriend look over when he spoke up, "what up fools?" The Maybank asks as Topper and Kelce look over at him. "How's it going, sunshine?" JJ asked. "What's up, pal?" Topper asked him. "Oh, can't complain on a day like this." JJ replied, looking around. "Right?"

"No." JJ answered quietly as Jake stared at the two, a little concerned. "It's getting big out there, huh?" Topper looks at JJ again. "Sure is. See that one?" The blond boy now points at a big wave coming. "Oh, yeah, here we go." Topper says. "Is that you?" JJ asked him. "Yeah, baby, that's all me." Topper says excitedly and JJ has a mischievous grin on his face. "Yeah, that's all you, Top." Kelce tells him. "Let's go, baby." Topper said, swimming.

"Don't mind if I do." JJ swims forward as Jake softly shook his head. "Do it. JJ." The two now surf the wave, Topper shouting at JJ before he fell off his surfboard and JJ shouts, laughing as he rode out the wave. "Hey! Blatant poach, man!" Rafe angrily shouts from the beach as Sarah glanced over at the group of Kooks. "What the hell was that?" A girl, Topper's new girlfriend, shouted next.

"So much for keeping the peace." Kie says as Jake looks at him, sighing. "What the hell, dude? You guys oughta teach your boy to wait his turn." Topper says, looking at John B and Jake. "Yeah, we'll teach him." Kelce says and Jake rolls his eyes, looking away. "Yeah, I'll text him real quick." John B pretends to type away at his phone, "Hey, J, can you...?"

"Classic Pogue shit, man." Topper says, sounding petty. "It's not that deep, bro." Jake says, looking over at JJ who was looking at them, whooping. "I thought we were chill." Topper says but Jake ignores him, smiling, as he's watching JJ as he turns around to look back at the beach where Rafe flips him off, so he just shrugs back in response.

Later, when they're done surfing, Kie brings over the surfboard to Jake and JJ. "Last board." She says as JJ takes it from her, "yeah, give it here." He says and Jake helps him lift it up onto the top of the van. "Hey, you got the other bungee cable?" John B asks them. "Thought that was you." JJ replied to him.

"Guys, there's a turtle hatch." Kie shouted, "what?" JJ looks over as Jake looked over right away. "There's a turtle hatch!" She shouted, Evie following behind her as she ran. "Oh, my God." Sarah got out quickly as the group all watch the turtles hatching. "Woah. Holy sh--" "language." Jake said as the girls all giggle. "Dada, turtles!" Evie looks up at him.

"I know!" Jake smiled big back at him and Evie looks down at the turtles again. "They're so little." Sarah says, covering her mouth. "Look at these little nuggets!" John B says. "Okay, wait, wait, back up. Give them some space. Eves, you can't touch them." Kiara said when she noticed Evie was about to reach out and grab one, so JJ reached out to the girl, "we can only stand here and watch them, princess." He tells her as Evie pointed. "They're so cute!"

"We gotta make a path, right?" Jake now asked Kie, "yeah." JJ said. "Clear the way." Kie instructs them. "Get these footprints out." John B says as he and Jake got to work. "Sarah, keep the gulls off." Kie tells the other girl. "I don't see any." Sarah says, looking up. The Pogues and Evie work together, clearing a way for the turtles to make their way to the water.
