"I understand. I won't transform into human form in front of anyone else but you," Heitong obediently agreed, much to Ye Wenxin's satisfaction. Having failed in raising Liu Churan, she was determined not to repeat her mistakes with this spirit beast.

Ye Wenxin silently vowed as they walked through an alley. Upon emerging, Ye Wenxin had transformed back into her young girl disguise, while Heitong reverted to her original form, taking flight with a flap of her wings.

Ye Wenxin secretly vowed, as they walked through an alley, that she would succeed this time. Emerging on the other side, she reverted to her guise as a young girl while Heitong returned to her original crow form, flapping her wings and soaring into the sky.

"That's a huge bird."

"Hey, it looks like there's someone riding on it."

Noticing the shadow in the sky, someone looked up to see a massive black bird with Ye Wenxin perched on its back.

"Could you land and let me down gently? If you drop me again, I'll let you experience what it's like to be tied up and thrown into a chasm," Ye Wenxin warned, recalling the unpleasant experience. Heitong hesitated before slowly descending.

Heitong's appearance caused a stir, with explosions from the alchemy furnaces seemingly celebrating Ye Wenxin's return.

The noise unsettled Heitong, who hesitated at entering the peculiar Alchemy Courtyard.

Ye Wenxin dismounted, scanning the surprised Cangyu Sect disciples for familiar faces.

As she moved through the crowd, she spotted Long Qing'er in the midst of alchemy, too preoccupied to answer questions about Ling Jue's whereabouts.

"Do you know where Ling Jue went?" Ye Wenxin asked a random disciple, but he was too focused on his own alchemy to know.

"Teacher Ling was called to the main hall by the sect master," a female disciple, having failed at alchemy, answered. Ye Wenxin thanked her and headed to find Ling Jue to assure her of her safety.

Turning toward the main hall, she noticed Heitong's massive form still lingering, reluctant to leave.

It was unclear if Heitong had developed an attachment to Ye Wenxin or was worried about her facing the sect elders.

"Little Black, come with me," Ye Wenxin decided, climbing onto Heitong's back again as they flew to the Cangyu Sect's main hall.

Perched on the highest peak, surrounded by cliffs, the hall was inaccessible without sword flight. Ye Wenxin could fly, but as a low-level cultivator, it would draw suspicion.

Heitong's presence helped maintain her cover.

"Heitong, no matter what I say, don't speak, understand?" Ye Wenxin reminded, knowing Heitong's newly acquired human form might lead to unintended trouble.

Heitong, though puzzled, agreed, flying toward the hall with confidence, disregarding the attention.

People were accustomed to Heitong's antics, but stirred by the sight of someone riding her.

"Isn't that the girl Black Lord took away a few days ago?"

"It is. Seems Black Lord recognized her talent and didn't harm her."
