During lunch, Long Qing'er seemed unusually enthusiastic, openly displaying her affection for Ye Wenxin. Treating her almost like a younger sibling, Long Qing'er's behavior left Ye Wenxin puzzled.

"Senior Sister Qing'er, weren't you always worried about our friendship being discovered? Why are you so bold today?" Ye Wenxin asked hesitantly, unsure of what had brought about this change in Long Qing'er.

"Isn't this better?" Long Qing'er responded with a question of her own, placing another piece of meat into Ye Wenxin's bowl.

"It's nice, but such a sudden change makes me uneasy," Ye Wenxin replied with a forced smile, aware of the murmurs around them.

Everyone knew Ye Wenxin had connections with Ling Jue, and had even become a junior alchemist. But seeing her dining with Long Qing'er, a princess of the Shengshi Dynasty, left many astounded.

Though Long Qing'er was known for her capricious nature, many sought to curry favor with her to climb the social ladder. Yet here was Ye Wenxin, effortlessly achieving what so many desired, leaving people bewildered.

Rumors soon spread that Long Qing'er had known Ye Wenxin for some time, even elevating her status to that of a hidden aristocrat. Ironically, there was indeed a mysterious Ye family known for its seclusion. Ye Wenxin found the gossip amusing yet unsettling, feeling this meal had become too conspicuous.

By the end of the day, Ye Wenxin had inadvertently gained fame.

On the one hand, people spoke of her audacity in competitions; on the other, they were fascinated by her connections. Ye Wenxin felt helpless, having never sought fame, yet it seemed her desire for a low profile had vanished.

"Baili Mu, are you asleep again?" Seeing Baili Mu slumped over his book, Ye Wenxin was exasperated, only to discover he hadn't fallen asleep but had been knocked out.

The familiar scene and clean technique suggested only Fairy Feng Ya could have done it.

The candlelight flickered briefly before stabilizing. Fairy Feng Ya, draped in white, stood like a ghost in the night.

If she was a ghost, she was the most beautiful ghost in the world.

Ye Wenxin stared at Fairy Feng Ya for a few seconds before setting her book aside and greeting her with a slight bow.

"Master, what brings you here?" Ye Wenxin's tone was less than cordial, having once hoped for Fairy Feng Ya's appearance and eventual demise.

Yet now, with Fairy Feng Ya's increasing presence in her life, Ye Wenxin felt irritated.

She worried that with Fairy Feng Ya's frequent visits, Baili Mu might end up permanently dazed.

"You did well."

"Master, did you hear that from others, or did you see it yourself?" Ye Wenxin's distrust of Fairy Feng Ya was evident. Recalling the unfortunate Bone Proud Heaven, she mused that if Fairy Feng Ya had shown him some affection, he might not have turned out as he did.

Once envied as a favored disciple, he seemed to gain no benefits.

Fairy Feng Ya remained silent, merely raising her hand gently.
