Yet, she dared not tell Ye Wenxin this truth. As the future leader of Yaowang Valley, posing as a man, she felt she had no right to speak of love.

"I know my feelings are foolish, falling for someone I shouldn't, just like you back then, Mother. But because we're so alike, I can't run away. Mother, I won't act rashly. I promise to stand tall in this male-dominated world, even as a woman."

"If I succeed, Mother, I will openly pursue Wenxin. This isn't seeking your approval; it's a declaration." The seemingly gentle Ling Jue spoke boldly at her mother's grave.

Afterwards, she bowed three times before the tombstone, then rose and left.

This was her resolve, now her greatest secret beyond her identity...

"Wenxin, let's go," she said, filled with determination, smiling at Ye Wenxin.

Ye Wenxin noticed a change in Ling Jue but couldn't pinpoint what it was. As they walked, she thought of the busy schedule awaiting them back at Cangyu Sect and suggested finishing Ling Jue's acupuncture treatment that night.

"Sister Ling, let me give you one more acupuncture session tonight. It should heal you completely."

"Alright, I know a perfect place where we can bathe afterward," Ling Jue agreed, trying to hide her affection but finding it impossible.

Realizing her emotions were showing, Ling Jue held Ye Wenxin's hand a little tighter. Ye Wenxin, puzzled but unconcerned, nodded, "Sure, let's do it."

Relieved by Ye Wenxin's agreement, Ling Jue resumed teaching her about herbs, evoking nostalgia for the day they first met. Ye Wenxin cherished those memories, heightening her reluctance for Ling Jue's departure.

Everyone has their own path, and theirs intersected only to part in the cruelest way.

"What are you thinking about, Wenxin?" Ling Jue asked, sitting barefoot on a rock by the waterfall, her toes skimming the water.

This was Ling Jue's chosen spot for acupuncture, secluded and safe. Ye Wenxin wasn't surprised by the choice, and when Ling Jue asked, she couldn't admit her reluctance, so she smiled, "Nothing, just admiring the beautiful moonlight."

In truth, she admired the moonlit beauty of Ling Jue.

"Moonlight? But the clouds cover the moon tonight," Ling Jue pointed out, seeing through Ye Wenxin's fib. Her toes danced on the water, hair swaying in the breeze, exuding relaxation.

"How to explain... never mind. Sister Ling, let's start your treatment," Ye Wenxin deflected, embarrassed to compliment directly, retrieving silver needles from her pouch.

"Here?" Ling Jue was taken aback. Though aware of Ye Wenxin's lack of romantic sense, she found this setting too unromantic.

Even in the wilderness, undressing was not a woman's way. Ling Jue, cautious and modest, was reluctant to do something so embarrassing.

Seeing her hesitation, Ye Wenxin suggested, "Let's do it in the water. It might be less effective than on land, but it's the last session, and you'll heal even without it."

Ling Jue still hesitated, unwilling to enter the water.

"Wenxin..." Her gaze softened, and Ye Wenxin sensed trouble but pressed on, "Sister Ling, what's wrong?"
