Ye Wenxin experimented with the effects one by one, leaving the senior disciples who had come to provoke her in a state of limbo—unable to live, unable to die—until she finally released them around midnight.
"We're sorry, junior sister, we won't dare do it again!"
"No worries, I just hope you continue causing me trouble. There are still hundreds of acupoints I haven't tested," Ye Wenxin responded cheerfully, finding great amusement in the Soul-Calming Eighteen Needles. Not only could it heal or kill, but it also provided immense fun in torturing people, awakening a rather intense interest within her.
The senior disciples fled in fear, while Ye Wenxin discarded the used needles, then checked her storage bag, finding she still had 99 sets left.
"This Soul-Calming Eighteen Needles is really hard to master. I wonder what level I need to reach to heal Ling Jue," Ye Wenxin mused, feeling her progress in both alchemy and needle techniques was frustratingly slow despite her talent.
What worried her most was that Ling Jue had only agreed to stay at Cangyu Sect for a year.
Half that time had already passed, and Ye Wenxin had yet to find a solution.
With a sigh, Ye Wenxin tried to open her dormitory door, only to find it locked from the inside. The windows were no alternative unless she broke in.
"Miss Baili, could you open the door?" Ye Wenxin called out, resigned, hoping Baili Mu would let her in.
After a moment of knocking, there was no response from within.
Ye Wenxin focused her qi, sensing Baili Mu was awake but clearly had no intention of opening the door, perhaps as punishment for Ye Wenxin's late return.
Resigned, Ye Wenxin knocked again, and Baili Mu finally unlocked the door.
Dressed in thin sleepwear, Baili Mu looked striking yet displeased.
Without a word, she returned to bed, and Ye Wenxin, closing and locking the door behind her, quickly fell asleep.
The next morning, just as dawn broke, a voice echoed outside.
"All outer sect disciples, assemble!" The call was neither loud nor quiet, yet clear in every ear. Ye Wenxin had barely slept three hours, her body still recovering from using the Soul-Calming Eighteen Needles the previous night.
She lay staring at the ceiling, feeling the bed's warmth contrasting with the harshness of the world outside.
"Get up," Baili Mu urged, her disdain evident, though she still reminded Ye Wenxin.
Reluctantly, Ye Wenxin parted from her cozy bed and dressed. By the time she arrived, the outer sect disciples were already gathered, making her tardiness stand out.
The outer sect elder glared at her laziness, his expression sour. "Don't join the ranks, stand over there as punishment!"
His words drew all eyes to Ye Wenxin, some gloating, others curious, ensuring they remembered her face.
"I don't care who you were outside; here, you're just a disciple of Cangyu Sect, and everyone must follow the rules," the elder declared sternly, directing his remarks at all, though clearly aimed at Ye Wenxin.
