THIRD PERSON POV
The sun was setting on a warm Friday afternoon as the park became quieter, with only the distant hum of the city in the background. Minni and Gwen sat together on their usual bench, the air around them light and carefree, their laughter and soft chatter blending in with the natural sounds of the park.
They were always together—after class, doing homework side by side, stealing kisses in between their notes, and taking long walks through the park. They were inseparable, or at least, Minni had always thought so.
"Bebe, gusto mo bang ice cream?" Gwen asked, her voice soft and playful, catching Minni's attention as she snapped out of her thoughts.
Minni looked up, meeting Gwen's eyes, and couldn't help but smile at her girlfriend's usual charm. Gwen was always the one to initiate their little adventures, the one who could turn the simplest moments into something magical.
"Sige, let's go on an ice cream date then." Minni replied, a smile spreading across her face. It wasn't often that Gwen would suggest something so spontaneous, but whenever she did, it made Minni's heart flutter.
"Let's go, bebe." Gwen grinned, standing up, pulling Minni's hand gently as they walked toward the ice cream stand.
As they got their favorite flavors—mint chocolate chip for Minni and strawberry for Gwen—they sat together on a nearby bench, enjoying the cold sweetness on a warm evening. The world seemed perfect in that moment, nothing to worry about except for the feeling of Gwen's hand in hers, their fingers entwined as they exchanged playful glances and whispered secrets.
Minni felt happy, her heart light, as if nothing could ever go wrong. But little did she know, that happiness was short-lived.
The cool evening air seemed to wrap around them like a blanket as Gwen held Minni close. The moment was peaceful, but inside Gwen's chest, there was a storm brewing, one that she couldn't shake. The quiet, tender moment with Minni only made the weight of the secret she carried that much heavier. She had to leave. She was leaving. And Minni, her heart, her everything, would never know until it was too late.
"I'll see you tomorrow, bebe," Minni said softly, her voice light with the kind of joy Gwen used to feel too—before the weight of her decision settled on her heart.
Gwen could barely manage a smile, fighting back the tears that threatened to fall. The words stuck in her throat, her mind screaming at her to stop, to confess, to tell Minni everything. But she didn't. She couldn't.
Her hand trembled as Minni held onto it, and Gwen tightened her grip for one last moment, as if to hold onto her for a little longer, to memorize the way her skin felt, the way her heart beat in the quiet, shared space between them.
