THIRD PERSON POV
Kyla's vision began to flicker open—blurry lights above her moved fast, the ceiling shifting as the bed was rushed through white halls. Her body felt numb, cold, and heavy. Her ears rang, muffling the chaos around her, but she could still hear crying—frantic voices shouting her name.
The cold metal of the stretcher beneath her made her shiver as she struggled to focus.
"Kyla! Please, gumising ka!" Sheena's voice cracked beside her, her hand holding Kyla's limp one tightly.
"Ma'am, we're almost at the OR!" a nurse shouted, trying to keep everyone at bay.
"She's losing too much blood!" another one added, pressing down on her wound. The pressure made Kyla flinch weakly, but she couldn't even cry out anymore.
Maloi stumbled beside them, her eyes swollen and red. "Ky...la..." she breathed. "I'm sorry... I'm so sorry..."
"Ayusin niyo ang dugo! She's going into shock!" a doctor barked, his voice commanding but tense.
The voices swirled in her head, distant yet sharp, like echoes underwater.
Kyla turned her head ever so slightly—just enough to see a blur of Sheena's face, stained with tears.
"Don't... cry," Kyla murmured weakly, her voice nearly inaudible.
Then, a tear rolled down from the corner of Kyla's eye. One last tear.
Before everything turned white.

2 Hours Later
The waiting room was a war zone of silence.
The eight girls sat on the floor and chairs—staring blankly, some crying softly. Michael Fernandez was on the phone outside, trying to control the media and his crumbling composure. Gelo paced, his hand trembling as he covered his mouth.
Sheena sat with her knees to her chest, holding Kyla's bloodstained shawl. "Dugo niya 'to... dugo niya..." she whispered, voice cracking.
"Nandun tayo. Bakit di natin siya naprotektahan?" Mikha muttered, punching her thigh. "Bakit ngayon pa?"
Aiah leaned her head against the wall, tears still running. "She was trying to forgive us... I saw it in her eyes kanina..."
Colet whispered. "I should've seen the man. I should've seen the signs."
None of them spoke for a long while.
Then the door opened.
A doctor walked in, his expression unreadable. The eight stood up like soldiers.
"Doc?" Maloi's voice shook.
"She's alive. But..." the doctor sighed. "She flatlined in the OR. Twice. It's a miracle we got her back."
