THIRD PERSON POV
The dim emergency exit stairwell was cold and quiet—until the heavy silence was broken by Michael Fernandez's voice, sharp and laced with disbelief.
The eight girls stood in a line, heads lowered like students caught cheating in an exam.
Michael crossed his arms, his presence towering over them—not just as Kyla's father, but as a powerful CEO who had just discovered that the eight women meant to protect his daughter were assassins... and secretly in love with her.
"Piskit talaga 'tong si Miles..." Colet muttered under her breath.
Michael raised an eyebrow. "What was that?"
Colet's eyes widened, panic flashing across her face. "W-wala po. Sorry po."
Michael took a deep breath and looked at each one of them, from Jhoanna to Gwen. "You all like my daughter? And assassins pa kayo?" His voice rose slightly, filled with a mix of frustration and disbelief. "You tried to kill her a million times, tapos nahulog kayo sa kanya?"
The eight winced as if each word struck a nerve.
"Sir..." Jhoanna finally spoke, her voice low. "We were assigned to kill her. That part is true. But something changed."
"She changed us," Maloi said softly. "Without even trying."
Michael looked at them in stunned silence.
"She made us laugh," Mikha added. "She made us feel things we weren't supposed to."
"Akala ko kalaban siya. Pero... every time she smiled at us, offered us food, treated us like people..." Sheena's voice cracked a little. "We forgot we were supposed to kill her."
Michael pinched the bridge of his nose, trying to process everything. "This sounds like a sick soap opera."
"It does, sir," Aiah admitted with a nervous smile.
Colet raised her hand sheepishly. "Technically, ako po 'yung unang na-fall—pero hindi po kami sabay-sabay! Parang chain reaction po siya."
Michael looked at them all, bewildered. "You expect me to just be okay with this?"
"No, sir," Gwen said quietly. "We just want you to know... we may have been sent to kill her, but now? We'd die to protect her."
Silence again.
Michael sighed, long and tired, then muttered under his breath, "Baka mas lalo pang delikado 'tong mga 'to ngayon."
Little did they know, Michael had been hiding a tug at the corner of his lips the whole time.
As he stepped away from them, he suddenly turned back with a wide grin on his face. "Oh my gosh," he said dramatically. "Magkaka-apo na ako!"
The eight girls snapped their heads up in synchronized confusion, like startled cats.
