THIRD PERSON POV

Y/N's breath hitched as she met the gaze of the woman standing before her. Black long hair, a luxurious outfit that screamed elegance—everything about her was unfamiliar, and yet, the moment their eyes met, something inside Y/N stirred.

"Anak?" The woman's voice trembled, hesitant yet filled with emotion. "Is that you?"

Y/N's throat tightened. Her heart pounded painfully in her chest as she took in the stranger's face, one she had never seen before, yet something about her felt... right.

Charlotte.

Her mother.

Y/N had prepared herself for this moment, had told herself over and over that she wouldn't let emotions take over. That she wouldn't make it easy. But seeing her now—alive, real, breathing—it shattered all the walls she had built.

A tear slipped down her cheek before she could stop it.

She really did soul-shift.

The woman in front of her wasn't the mother she knew physically. The warm smile, the gentle touch she remembered from childhood—it didn't belong to this face. The features were different, changed by time, by magic, by whatever had forced her mother to leave them behind.

And yet, it was undeniably her.

Charlotte stepped forward cautiously, her own eyes glistening. "I—" She hesitated, as if unsure if she was allowed to reach out. "I never stopped thinking about you."

Y/N clenched her fists, willing herself to stay composed. "Then why did you leave?" Her voice was cold, masking the storm of emotions inside her.

Charlotte flinched, but she didn't look away. "Because I had to. Because if I stayed, you and your siblings would've been in danger."

"Danger from what?" Y/N demanded, her voice sharper now.

Her father placed a hand on her shoulder, as if to calm her down, but she shrugged it off.

Charlotte exhaled shakily. "From those who are after our bloodline. From those who want to use us—for power, for control. Your Lolo knew it. He tried to protect us, but I..." She looked down, guilt flashing in her eyes. "I had to make a choice. To leave so you could live."

Y/N swallowed hard. "And you never came back?"

Charlotte looked pained. "Would you have wanted me to, if it meant leading them straight to you?"

Silence.

Y/N's nails dug into her palms. Her mind was racing.

She wanted to hate her. She wanted to scream at her, demand why she never fought harder to stay. But deep down, a part of her—the little girl who had waited for her mother's return—wanted to believe her.
