THIRD PERSON POV

Jhoanna adjusted her camera lens, scanning the lively crowd at the Division Schools Press Conference (DSPC). She was a photojournalist representing her school, determined to win this year. She had taken countless photos that day—capturing speeches, intense writing competitions, and bustling moments between participants—but nothing seemed extraordinary enough to catch her eye for her entry.

"Jho, deadline for submissions is later, ha? Don't forget!" her teammate reminded her before disappearing into the sea of students. Jhoanna nodded absentmindedly, her eyes already scanning the room for inspiration.

That was until she spotted her.

Sereia , seated by the window in one of the rooms, radiated a quiet yet captivating energy. Her brows furrowed in focus as she reviewed her notes, lips occasionally pressing together in thought. Her sunlight-kissed hair framed her face perfectly as the golden light from the window highlighted her every feature. Jhoanna couldn't look away.

"Perfect," Jhoanna whispered to herself, adjusting the camera settings.

The soft click, click, click of the camera echoed faintly as Jhoanna captured Aella in her candid concentration. Each shot came out flawless, but Jhoanna couldn't stop—something about Sereia made her heart race and her hands sweat.

Hours later, Jhoanna stared at the photo on her laptop screen, her heart thudding in her chest. It was perfect. Every element—from the lighting to the slight tilt of Sereia's head—spoke volumes. The candid shot captured her in her natural state, her face illuminated by the afternoon sun filtering through the window of the venue.

She felt proud, yes, but there was something more. A strange sense of attachment, almost as if she had captured a fragment of someone's soul within the photograph.

The venue buzzed with excitement as the announcer finally reached the photojournalism category. Jhoanna fidgeted in her seat, her heart racing.

"And for the photojournalism category, first place goes to... Jhoanna Christine Burgos Robles!"

The applause erupted, and Jhoanna sat frozen for a second before her friends dragged her up.

"JHOOO NICE ONE!" Maloi's voice boomed, making the entire room look their way.

"JHOANNA LIBRE MOKO MAMAYA!" Stacey shouted, laughing loudly.

"Dapat ikaw mag-libre sakanya, hindi si Jho!" Colet retorted, shaking her head.

"JHOMANGGA GALING MO TALAGA!" Sheena added, cupping her hands around her mouth for emphasis.

Jhoanna couldn't help but smile, her cheeks flushed red as she walked toward the stage. She glanced at her coach, who gave her a proud nod.
