THIRD PERSON POV

As they walked out of the building toward the parking lot. Jennifer glanced at him, confused. "Ha? Bakit naman?"

"Dude," Mingyu said, turning to her with wide eyes, "they literally stared at me like they were gonna kill me. Di mo ba napansin kanina?"

Jennifer frowned, shaking her head. "No, I didn't look back, eh."

Mingyu groaned dramatically. "Good. 'Cause if you did, baka pati ikaw matulala sa mga tingin nila. Parang gusto akong i-interrogate."

Jennifer laughed softly, covering her mouth. "You're exaggerating, Mingyu. They're nice once you get to know them."

Mingyu gave her a skeptical look as he opened the car door for her. "Nice? Maybe to you. Pero kanina, parang gusto na akong i-cross-examine ni Ms.Stacey."

Jennifer chuckled again, settling into the passenger seat. "They're just protective. You know, work family."

"Uh-huh," Mingyu muttered, starting the engine. "Protective ba tawag dun? Or possessive?"

Jennifer rolled her eyes, trying to hide the faint blush creeping onto her cheeks. "You're overthinking."

"Am I?" Mingyu said with a teasing grin as they pulled out of the parking lot. "You didn't see their faces when I touched your back. I swear, one of them almost glared me into dust."

Jennifer smiled faintly, looking out the window at the city lights.

She didn't reply

"Hayaan mo oi," Jennifer said as they walked into the restaurant, the warm smell of grilled food filling the air.

"Heard you got grounded," Mingyu said, trying hard not to laugh.

Jennifer rolled her eyes and sat down at their table. "How did you know?"

"Your kuya told me—pfft—" Mingyu snickered before he could finish, earning a quick flick to the forehead.

"Aray!" he hissed, rubbing the spot while Jennifer smirked in victory.

"That's what you get," she said, crossing her arms playfully.

Mingyu chuckled and leaned back on his chair. "Still the same Klaris. No mercy."

Jennifer just laughed, shaking her head. "You talk too much, that's why."

"Why did you get grounded, anyway?" Mingyu asked, signaling the waiter with a raised hand.

Jennifer groaned softly. "Seryoso ka ba? I spent too much raw. I didn't even have a job that time, but ngayon I have one na — and still, they won't give my credit card back."

Mingyu raised an eyebrow, a teasing smile forming. "The black one?"

Jennifer sighed dramatically. "Yes. The black one. My freedom card."
