Jasmine's POV

"Don't be a bitch, Jas. You can make it two more nights," Nicki muttered, tossing clothes out of her suitcase.

I inhaled deeply, meeting her gaze from across the room.

She pouted, twisting her lips into an exaggerated frown.

"Fine, I'll stay. Just never make that face again," I said, laughing.

She rolled her eyes, grabbing my hand. "Come on, let's get breakfast."

But I didn't move, my feet rooted to the floor.

"Jas, forget about her," she whispered.

Truthfully, she wasn't the one on my mind. But I forced a smile and followed her downstairs.

Laughter echoed from the dining room.

Durk chuckled at something the maid said as she placed pancakes on the table.

"See? Why you always gotta be in hoes' faces, laughing and shit?" Nicki teased loud enough for everyone to hear.

The room went silent for half a second before bursting into laughter.

"Bitch, calm down," Leah said, sliding into the seat next to Von.

"It wasn't even like that, baby," Durk grinned, pulling Nicki into his lap.

I let go of her hand and finally took in the table.

Leah, Durk, Von, Asian, and Duke.

The only open seat was between Leah and Von at the head of the table.

Slowly, I made my way over, my heels clicking against the marble floor.

I felt it instantly—eyes on me.

Duke.

I tugged at the hem of my dress, suddenly wondering if it hugged my body too much.

Just as I reached for the chair, Von brushed my hand away, pulling me onto his lap.

"There's enough room right here, baby," he murmured, pressing a kiss to my cheek.

He filled my plate with eggs, bacon, fruit, and waffles before setting it in front of me.

"You look good today, sis. Where you headed?" Duke's voice cut through the chatter.

My stomach tightened. I kept my head down, focusing on my plate.

Von's grip on my waist tightened.

Please don't let him be talking to me.

"Gang, we need to take you out to see some bitches or something," Von said, his tone too casual.

The table went still.

Duke let out a dry laugh. "Damn, when did you get so uptight?"

"Don't," Durk warned, cutting Duke a sharp look.

Duke smirked. "I'm just saying, all the ladies look beautiful today."

"That's not what the fuck you said, gang," Von shot back, voice edged with something dangerous.

"Shopping!" Nicki interjected, forcing a bright tone. "Today's a shopping day for the ladies, so empty those pockets, fellas."

She smirked at Von. "Good brother Von, looks like you gotta double it since your sister doesn't have a man."

Von's eyes stayed locked on Duke's. "That ain't no problem."

The moment shifted as the kids ran in from the pool, their laughter breaking the tension.

"Mommy, the boys were hiding from Bella and me," Liberty whined, pressing her face into my arm.

"August," Von called, voice firm.

August stepped forward, looking up at his dad.

"You're supposed to watch over your sister, not hide from her," Von said.

August nodded and walked off without a word.

"Can I go with you, Mommy?" Liberty whined again.

"No, baby, you're going with your daddy today. I bet you're gonna have so much fun."

Her face lit up before she ran toward the stairs.

Nicki leaned in. "Maybe they can take Ms. Hoe with them too."

Leah kicked her under the table, shooting her a warning glance.

"What?" Nicki scoffed. "She wants attention? Take her ass to the zoo or something."

Von threw his head back, laughing.

"Who you calling a hoe?!" Asian snapped.

Nicki smirked. "The loudest one in the room. Don't act brand new."

I shook my head and stood up, ready to head upstairs and change into something more comfortable for shopping.

As I walked away, I heard Asian's voice, syrupy sweet.

"Can I have some money, Daddy?" she purred at Duke.

I glanced at Nicki.

She shook her head, muttering under her breath.

I promise I won't go this long without updating again! I'm actually looking forward to this shopping trip.
