87 White Lie

In front of you was the barrier separating the culling games from society. Its dark walls made it impossible to see inside, which may be for the best.

Stopping a little ways away from it Megumi spoke, "You ready?" The question was mostly directed towards you, since Yuji was already technically apart of the games.

"Lets get this done." You nodded.

"Yo! I'm Kogane! The deathmatch known as the culling game is underway inside this barrier! Once you step in, you're a player too! Knowing that, will you come inside anyway?!

"No problem." Megumi agreed. You followed suit, and the three on you stepped inside.

Determined steps were left without footing, hair suddenly whipping around your face. The air was forced from your lungs in shock, looking down at the roofs of buildings. "The fuck?!"

Unknown to you and the other two, after passing through the barrier you would be dropped in one of nine random locations. However, this fact was known to players already in the game, and they planned to take advantage.

There was a group of five surrounding the area you were bound to land in, and they looked far from being a friendly welcome party.

Stepping over a limp body you looked around at the buildings with your hands on your hips, brows furrowed.

I wonder if the other two had people waiting for them...we got separated even though the point of me being here was to keep an eye on Yuji.

An annoyed groan fell past your lips, beginning to walk in a random direction.

The goal was to find Higuruma. So that's what they should be doing too, right? Just gotta ask around and get back on track.

But as it turns out, it's harder to get information in this environment than you anticipated. Simply walking up and asking if they knew where the high point bearer was quickly proved to be useless. It was all, 'As if I would tell you!', or 'Fight me and if you win I'll tell you!'

So, you were forced to take matters up to the next level. "Alright, third times the charm." You glared, heel pressing against the mans throat, "Do you know where Higuruma is?"

"I can't-can't give that..for free!" He choked out.

"Your payment is not having your throat crushed." You pressed harder.

He was quick to pat your calf three times. "Fine! Fine!"

You crouched down as he clutched the bruised area, coughing with saliva dribbling down his chin. "He stays in the community theater."

You waved your hand in a circle, "And..."

"The...community theater? Its north, you can't miss the sign."

"...Alright, this isn't going to work." You sighed, placing your hands on your knees and standing.

"W-wait! I told you! Please don't kill me!" The man cowered. He held his arms over his head as you reached down, peeking through his fingers as he was sat on his feet. "What?"
