I bit back a small groan, and my cheeks turned red. "Don't," I said and shook my head, rubbing my face to try and hide my blush. "Don't say that because you are not in my debt now or forever. Why would you even say something like that?" I asked and raised an eyebrow in question.
Reece shrugged and grimaced, pressing his lips into a thin line. "It felt right," he said and shifted in his seat. He cleared his throat and rubbed his eyes, blinking back some tears. "But it's true, that is the nicest thing someone has ever said to me."
"And she is right," Rhett said and slowly nodded. "You aren't your father and neither are you, Jonah." He looked at Jonah, and Jonah hesitated before he slowly bowed his head with a look of guilt and nervousness flashed through his eyes. "You have your own thoughts and feelings, and you can decide for yourself what you want to do and think."
Jonah hesitated before he slowly nodded. "Yes, Uncle Rhett," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. and looked away from him, pressing his lips into a thin line, and his shoulders fell in defeat. He cleared his throat and looked at Reece. "I'm sorry, Reece," he said. "Do you think that you can forgive me?"
Reece bit back a small smile and slowly nodded. "Of course," he said before he cleared his throat and grew serious. "I understand and accept your apology. I am grateful that you won't listen to your father, and I do miss having a friend in you..." He trailed off and shifted in his seat, and his cheeks instantly turned red. "You had been someone that I had looked up to, even though you've been through a lot and are a lot older than me."
I wrinkled my nose and pursed my lips in annoyance. "Oh, ya," I said, and Jonah looked at me, raising an eyebrow in question. "You are a lot older than me now, damn it."'
"What's that supposed to mean?" Jonah asked, with a small laugh in his voice. "We're a lot older than the people in your timeline. How old am I in your timeline?" He cocked his head to the side while he studied me.
"About twenty-three," I said and shrugged with a small grimace on my face. "He wants to be a healer, even though he is "supposed" to be the Alpha of the pack. However, Keagen is going to be the Alpha of the pack when our parents want to retire or die."
"And I hope that isn't going to happen in a long while," Uncle Rhett said and leaned back in his seat, and I bit back a small laugh and slowly nodded in confirmation.
"Ya, I hope that isn't going to be a long time either." I cleared my throat and shifted on my feet. "However, I am sure that they will retire long before they die."
"Why are you saying that the me in your timeline is not going to be the Alpha?" Jonah asked and cocked his head while he studied me with a small frown on his face. "I am still considered the "first born" there, right?" he asked and raised an eyebrow in question.
"Yes," I said and nodded in confirmation. "However, he wants to be a healer and has been working with the doctors and well as some healers from different species. Mom supports his decision and so does Dad."
"Is that why Keagen is getting trained as an Alpha?" Jonah asked and raised an eyebrow in question, and I nodded in confirmation.
"I am in the same classes too because it is more than likely that I was going to be mated to a Beta or an Alpha, but that wasn't the case." I shrugged and grimaced, pressing my lips into a thin line.
"Does that mean you aren't mated to an Alpha or a Beta?" Reece asked and cocked his head to the side while he studied me with a small frown on his face, and I nodded. "Then what rank are you mated to?"
My heart ached and became filled with pain and sadness. I bit back a small smile while I tucked my head closer to my chest. "I am mated to a prince," I said and rubbed my arm before I cleared my throat and shifted on my feet. "I'm not mated to the werewolf prince, but I am mated to a prince."
