Fernos looked at me with a hard look on his face and set his jaw without saying a word. His whole body was tense, and I could tell that he did not like that he was this close to me, but he would do it to make sure that I wasn't lying about the mark on my back.

"Do you need me to do anything for you to see the mark?" I asked without looking back at him. "And can you show me what the mark looks like because I want to know what he had done and understand it. He gets quiet when I ask him about the marks he puts on my skin as if it is something bad but isn't."

"No," Fernos said in a cold voice, and my heart broke into a couple of pieces because I had hoped that because we did not have a bond like my grandfather and I, he wouldn't care about whatever rules and regulations he had set up for me and for him. "I am not going to tell you what it means. If the me in your timeline didn't tell you, then there is a reason as to why you do not know."

I bit back an annoyed sigh and rubbed the bridge of my nose before I shook my head, and my heart broke into more pieces while I felt a little dejected. "Ok, but can you tell me what the one right there is when I show it to you. That is the only one I am curious about." I pointed to the spot where I knew the marking would be, which was on my right shoulder blade but the bottom tip of it.

"Maybe," Fernos said with a sigh of annoyance. "Go ahead and show me the one you are talking about."

I nodded and closed my eyes before I did what I was told to do. I took a deep breath and released it with a silent whoosh, focusing on the powers that my marks use to make them become seen.

There was a small twist in my stomach area before it released itself, and all of my grandfather's markings showed themselves to the man that had my grandfather's face but not his mind or memory of anything to deal with me.

Silas whistled when the markings from my grandfather showed themselves, but he made no move toward me. "Damn, that is a lot," he said and inspected the ones that he could see. "How many do you have?"

"Don't know," I said and shrugged, biting back a small grimace. "The ones that I am showing now are not even half of what is covering my body. There are some from a Witch, Warlock, and then Fae. I have a lot of friends and family from different species that will mark my skin."

"Do they go through your mother before they do it?" Silas asked. "I mean, doesn't she have a problem with them marking your skin with stuff that she doesn't know, or is she grateful for it?"

"They do go through my mom first, mainly," I said with a chuckle while I shook my head. "No one likes to see a very protective Mama Wolf with fire powers, who will or will not put you through your paces because she wanted someone to fight her that had wronged her in some way."

"Who does she normally fight if there is no one to fight her?" Silas asked.

"Uncles, aunts, Dad, and then other warriors that want to test her strength and ability. I do the same thing, but it is usually my twin that gets the short end of the stick because we are twins and love to fight each other and test our abilities against one another."

"Do you ever know what the other is thinking before starting a fight?" Silas asked, and I nodded in confirmation. "Have you ever fought the Fernos over there?" He looked at Fernos when Fernos grew tense and let out a small hiss before he looked at me with a nervous expression on his face.

"Multiple times," I said and nodded in confirmation. "He doesn't like to fight me when he is in full Demon mode, but I have fought him and won a few of the fights between the two of us. He doesn't make it easy on me, which I am glad about because I am going to need all of the practice I can get from all of those that I know and don't know."

"So are you going to try to fight anyone from here, including Fernos?" Silas asked, and I looked at Fernos because I did not know the answer to that question, biting the inside of my lip.

Fernos didn't say a word and slowly blinked. His whole body was tense, and I could tell that he didn't want to fight me or train me in anything that he may know while mine doesn't. He looked at where the new marking was and stared at it without saying a word or doing anything to it, inspecting it with a cold, calculated look on his face.

"You can touch the mark," I said and looked at Fernos, to see that there were different emotions going through his eyes, even though his face was blank. "I do not know if it will do anything, but I don't think it will hurt me."

"When did he do this?" he asked coldly. He hesitated before he traced the mark with his finger, and a small shiver went down my spine while my whole body started to feel warm and complete.

"He did this after I received the whip marks on my back and before I came here," I said. "He didn't look me in the eyes when he walked with me and others back to my "room" so that they could get me ready to come here."

"How long did it take him to do it?" he asked, and I shrugged and grimaced, pressing my lips into a thin line.

"I don't think it took him a long time," I said. "It took getting me dressed and out of those clothes longer than it took him to do it. I won't be surprised if he is watching over my actual body, even though other species are not allowed to be at the pack."

"Why not?" Silas asked, and I shrugged and grimaced, pressing my lips into a thin line.

"Because they are stuck in old old ways where packs and clans aren't unified," I said and rolled my eyes. "My mom had done a very good job of making it so that the species were unified, even though it is mainly my parents' or uncle's pack that deals with the other species. No one is phased when someone shows up out of the blue and will normally ask them if they are staying for dinner."

"And you do not know what this mark means?" Fernos asked while he pressed his finger into the middle of the mark, and the mark grew warmer than it had when he had traced it.

"Correct," I said and furrowed my brows. "However, it makes me feel as if I am complete or something, especially when you touch it. Do you know what that means, or are you even going to tell me?"

"I am not going to tell you," Fernos said and shook his head while he took his hand away from the mark. "I want you to keep that covered up," he said, "especially if you come into contact with other Demons."

"Why?" I asked and furrowed my brows while I let the markings on my skin fade away before I turned to look at him. "What is so important about me not showing the mark to anyone, especially if I come in contact with another Demon?"

"Because it deals with something that you should not be a part of, and it is something that I do not want to be questioned about," Fernos said coldly. "Now, finish up the discussion about what is happening and get out of my tent. I need to be alone and away from you. Is that understood?"

"Yes, Fernos," we said in unison while my heart shattered into more pieces, and I couldn't help but wonder how much heart break my heart could take from him before it killed me in a way that affected my body or whatever in my timeline with no way to stop it.

Hopefully it would take a lot before it affects the me over there because I knew that if it didn't, then it would be the end of me and what I knew about my world as I know it.

So Goddess, please keep giving me the strength that I need to keep this up because I can not let anyone else down or suffer from a heart break that I was getting here.

Please...
