Caroline and I made it back to her "secret" spot, and Caroline breathed a small sigh of relief while her whole body started to relax.
I couldn't help but raise an eyebrow in question while I stared at her, biting back a small smile. "What's up with you?" I asked and cocked my head to the side while I studied her. "Are you ok?"
Carolien's cheeks turned red, and she shrugged without saying a word. She stared at me with expectant eyes as if she was excited to see what I could teach her and do myself.
I bit back a small laugh and nodded. "Ok," I said and rubbed my hands together. "Now, do you want to train with hands and stuff like that, or do you want to start working on water and breathing exercises?" I asked and raised an eyebrow in question while I studied her.
"Water and breathing exercises," Caroline said instantly before her cheeks turned red. She cleared her throat and shifted on her feet, and she looked at her feet before she looked at me. "Please?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper. "I would like to start with that."
"Sure," I said and nodded in confirmation before I cleared my throat to hide a chuckle. "You do not need to feel so bashful about it. I don't mind doing anything that you need me to do, Caroline. Ok?"
Caroline hesitated before she slowly nodded. "Ok," she said. She cleared her throat and shifted on her feet. "Can we start working with water, please?" she asked and cocked her head to the side while she studied me.
"Sure," I said and nodded in confirmation. I sat down and started to take off my shoes and socks, and Caroline stared at me with wide eyes. "What?" I asked and raised an eyebrow in question while I studied her, biting back a small smile. "What's with the look on your face?"
Caroline hesitated before she shook her head, and a small blush on her face. "I don't know," she said before she cleared her throat and shifted on her feet. "I am just surprised that you are helping me."
I raised an eyebrow in question while I studied her, pressing my lips into a thin line. "Why?" I asked and cocked my head while I continued to study her, trying but failing to see why she was still surprised.
Caroline shrugged and pressed her lips into a thin line, and her cheeks turned redder. "I don't know," she said before she cleared her throat and shifted on her feet. She shook her head and bit back a tired sigh, moving a hand through her hair while she pursed her lips in annoyance.
I bit back a small smile and tucked my head closer to my chest. "Go ahead and sit down on the ground so that you can take your shoes and socks off, Caroline. We'll get in the water and do something with it. Ok?"
Caroline hesitated before she slowly nodded. "Ok," she said and rubbed her hands together. She sat down and started to take her shoes and socks off while she pressed her lips into a thin line. "What are you going to teach me?" she asked and raised an eyebrow in question while she looked at me. "Or do you know?"
"Well, I want to see what you can do and then teach you other stuff that I can do," I said and shrugged, pressing my lips into a thin line. "I don't want to make you feel as if what you have accomplished is not good enough, if that makes sense."
"It does," Caroline said and nodded, offering me a tight smile while pain flashed through her eyes. "If you do something that I already know how to do, then I would still appreciate it because I don't mind at all," she added. She stuck her socks into her boots and looked at me while she stood. "Now, are you ready?" she asked and raised an eyebrow in question while she studied me.
"Yes," I said and nodded in confirmation. I stuffed my socks into my boots before I cleared my throat and stood. "I am ready." I started to walk over to the creek but paused before I reached it, and Caroline stopped behind me.
"What happened?" she asked and raised an eyebrow in question. "Why did you stop?"
"Because I think I want to roll up my pant legs so that I do not get them wet when we get into the water," I said and shrugged. I knelt down and started to roll my pant legs up to my knees, and Caroline watched me with wide eyes, amazed.
"But can't you stop water from getting you wet?" she asked and cocked her head to the side while she studied me. "Or is that something that you haven't learned yet?"
"I haven't learned it yet, but I think that it is something that we can do with water because we can control it. I know that Dad knows how to do it, and Keagen can do it too." I stood after I was done and turned to look at Caroline to see that she had started to do the same thing.
"Keagen is your twin, correct?" Caroline asked and stood after she was finished rolling up her pant legs to her knees. She raised an eyebrow in question while she studied me. "He can control water, correct?"
"Correct," I said and nodded in confirmation. I walked into the water, biting back a tired sigh, and she started to follow me while she slowly nodded with furrowed brows, pressing her lips into a thin line.
"Can he control fire as well?" she asked and raised an eyebrow in question while she studied my back. "Or does he only know how to control water?"
"He only knows how to control water," I said and shrugged, pressing my lips into a thin line. "He has tried to control fire before, but he can't do it. It doesn't burn him, but he can't control it the way that I and Mom can. He gets jealous of me because I am able to do both."
Caroline's cheeks turned red, and she tucked her head closer to her chest. "I am jealous too," she said, and I bit back a small sharp laugh while I raised an eyebrow in question, shocked and surprised.
"What?" I asked and cocked my head to the side while I studied her. "Why?"
Caroline bit back a small smile and shrugged, and her cheeks turned red while she blushed. "Because you can control both," she said. "I think it is cool, and I am jealous about it because I would like to do that as well."
I bit back a small smile, and my heart broke just a tad while I shook my head. "It's not as glamorous as you think it is, especially since it is harder to learn one when you are able to fully control the other."
She slowly nodded and furrowed her brows, biting back a small smile when she looked at me. "But when you are able to control both, then you will be one of the most powerful wolves out there. I just know it."
