Samidha stared at other houses lit up with Diyas. It was Dhanteras that day. She had completely forgotten about everything. She didn't even pray. She felt like shit.
Two more days and it'll be Diwali and she'll have to report back, her leave would be over.
She felt so vulnerable as she sat alone on the terrace at midnight. She had a man to protect. What was she doing in all this mess? She didn't want to protect anyone. She didn't want anyone to protect her. She just wanted to live a simple mediocre life where she was probably just a nobody.
But that voice of her stupid, annoying conscience.
How could she possibly put a blindfold on her eyes when she was the most capable person on the planet?
Who would do a better job than her in improving her society. She wanted to save everybody. If she doesn't, than who will?
But she was fed up of everything. She didn't want to go back to all that blood, war and deaths. All she wanted was for this vacation to continue.
She would happily spend her life cooking for the man she loved, away from the sufferings of life.
"But no one escapes it."
"Escapes what?"
She asked the voice in her head quietly.
"Sufferings. It's impossible."
"I could stay locked up in my house."
"You'll still not escape anything."
"Yeah, right. If Siddharth couldn't escape, how would I?"
She mumbled, referring to Gautam Buddha and looked at her feet.
"If Alessio troubles me one more time I will end his entire bloodline."
She said softly and looked up, only to gasp loudly in fear.
"What are you doing here?!"
She asked and Sahaj raised his eyebrows.
"You didn't realise I was here?"
He asked and she shook her head.
What would she tell him? That for the last ten years, her conscience was talking to her in his voice? That her thoughts, her soul had his voice?
It was impossible for her to differentiate.
"You are a real spy right?"
"Oh shut up you idiot."
She mumbled, scooting towards him and keeping her head on his chest.
"I can also end your bloodline."
She threatened and he kissed her forehead, chuckling.
"I used to think your love language was cooking, but it is actually threatening to kill. It's cute."
"Is it?"
"It's terrifying."
She laughed and he pulled her up on his lap and leaned back on the wall. She kissed his jaw and looked at his face.
How did she get this lucky?

Samidha stared at Sahaj as he filled the trunk of the jeep with their things.
It was the day after Diwali and they were going back. Samidha felt bad that she wasn't able to make the festival special for him. He was away from his family and however much he tried to not let it show, he wasn't feeling happy alone at the biggest festival.
She couldn't even do much as she was way too occupied by the laptop she borrowed from Bhola to get any updates as it was the last day. She couldn't concentrate on anything.
She couldn't even make sweets for him.
"Sahaj!"
She called out and he closed the trunk.
"Yeah?"
