"Can I walk to school today?" I ask Alfie.

"Sure! I'm filming today, so that would be helpful."

After I eat my breakfast, I go up to get ready by putting on an outfit and doing light makeup.

I walk downstairs with my backpack and all ready for school. Zoe and Alfie and cuddling on the couch.

"I'm off! Goodbye parents."

"Bye Maya!" Alfie calls out.

"Good luck at school, hun!" Zoe adds.

I walk outside and see Jeana at her steps too, just walking out. "Bye Jim, Bye Tan!" She calls out.

"Hey Jeana." I smile as she walks my way.

"Hey, Maya. We walking together?" She asks.

I nod. She walks beside me and I show her how to get to school from our house.

"So..." she starts. "How's school going for you?"

My mind blanks out. She knows about Sam and I.

"Um... not very good. Hannah and them pick on me a lot."

She nods. "Oh. Who have you been hanging out with?"

She's getting suspicious. Or she knows.

"Well, no one exactly..." I say quickly.

"Ah." Is all she says.

It's a quiet way for the rest of the way to school but we eventually get there. "Ready to surprise everyone?" I ask.

She rolls her eyes. "No one's gunna even notice."

I laugh. "Don't be silly, everyone will."

We walk into the school. No one says anything when they look at Jeana. Maybe this isn't going as well as I thought.

"They'll notice." I say.

She doesn't respond. Then I look over at Sam with his friends. He smiles at me before coming over.

"Hey Maya."

I look at him, nervous. How am I supposed to tell Jeana?

"Hey, Sam. "What's up?"

Jeana eyes us. He looks at Jeana. "Hey Jeana, glad your back."

She looks down and blushes. "Yeah, hi."

This is not going well. The bell rings and I look at both of them quickly. "Well, that's the bell. Time to go to class. Haha come on."

They stare oddly at me. "Okay..." Sam says awkwardly.

"What's going on?" Jeana asks. "You know, between you and Sam?"

We walk outside like we used to since it's lunch. "Um, nothing why?"

She stops me and stares into my eyes. "Cut the crap, Maya. I saw him kiss you on the cheek."

I get nervous. "It was just for friendship."

She rolls her eyes. "Maya, I'm not stupid. Friends don't do that."

I sigh. "Okay, I'm sorry. We've been hanging out and...."

"And?" She asks.

"And...."

"Go on." She says, getting annoyed.

"Okay okay. Please don't be upset, but he kinda asked me out."

Hurt fills her eyes. "Oh."

I instantly feel guilty. "I'm really sorry. I didn't know you were going to come back, and I did think it through. But.. he asked me to be his girlfriend."

She nods, still hurt. "So your like.. boyfriend and girlfriend?"

I bite my lip and then slowly nod. "Yeah."
