Chapter 42

Mayas pov

Today is the day I go to school without my best friend. I stare out the window of Zoe's car as we drive to school. Alfie and Zoe keep apologizing to me but I also think it's for the best.

She might even be happier. She probably loves her new home. I didn't like it, but it's better than where she was before.

I say bye to Zoe and she drives away. Then I stare at the building that I find scary now. Before it felt like another home because I felt accepted. But now, it's like a dungeon.

Just before I can open the door, it opens and it hits me, causing me to fall over. My books fall open and pages go flying. I study them for a second and glare up at the person who did this. It was a group of the girls in my class. They laughed at me and walked away.

I growled and picked up everything. Good thing I never dropped my phone.

I walk into the building and put everything in the cubby in the classroom.

The bell rings as soon as I sit down and everyone gets out their stuff and the teacher starts instructing. I can't focus. Everything the teacher says just seems to slide through one ear and out the other.

I wish Zoe and Alfie would have told me.

Zoes pov

I watch Maya wave to me and I drive away. I hope she's okay. We only did this because we wanted to help Jeana, but it just backfired and hurt someone else.

I drive by the high school. Maya is going to be in there next year. It's crazy to know that we've had her for so long already.

I'm actually happy with our choice. I know most girls want their own baby, but I couldn't have one so I chose a 12 year old girl instead.

I start driving onto the highway. It's so bright out and the sun is in my eyes. I speed up so I can stop at the stop sign and get my sunglasses. Once I get to the stop sign, I reach forward and get them, and put them on.

The car motions me to go so I do. At the same time, the car comes too.

"WHOA! STOP!" I yell as the car smashes into my car. My head jerks and hits the window.

"Ow..." I say, touching where my head banged to see some blood on my forehead.

The guy hurries out of his car and runs to my door. "I'M SO SORRY!" he yells at me. "Im so sorry I'm so sorry! I'll pay for the damage!"

"It's okay." I laugh. I am quite pissed but I don't want him to know that. I stay holding the wheel without getting out. "How bad is it?" I ask.

His teeth come together and his eyes go sad. "It's pretty bad. We should try to move out of the road though."

"Okay. We'll get this sorted out on the side." I smile.

I start the car. A loud screeching noise appears to my right and the man's scream. I turn to see a large truck coming my way.

I scream really loud and everything went dark after a super loud crash.
