Chapter 29

It was lunch and we found our spot where we sat yesterday. I opened my lunch kit to see what Zoe made me.

I found pizza with extra cherry tomatoes, Zoes favorite. I also had a granola bar and some yogurt.

I stared eating and realized that Jeana didn't bring a lunch. "What do you have?" I asked after I finished chewing.

She shrugged and shuffled a bit before answering. "I forgot to make a lunch because I woke up late."

She sounded shady when she said it. I nodded and handed her my yogurt and granola bar. She shook her head and shooed them away.

"Jeana you have to eat."

"I'm fine, thanks." She gave me a weak smile.

I sighed and finished my pizza, leaving my other food back in the lunch kit.

We still had 20 minutes before the bell rang after lunch, so we decided to go outside.

There is a tree in the corner by the school, so we climbed to the middle of it and sat down.

It is a very hot day, and I took off my cardigan because it was making me sweat. I look at what Jeana is wearing and notice that she is wearing a sweater over her long sleeved shirt.

"Are you going to take your sweater off?" I asked, concerned.

"No its okay."

I blinked. "Aren't you hot?"

She shook her head. "No, I'm really cold."

"Oh. I'm sweating." I laughed.

She never made eye contact with me through the whole conversation. Then I noticed a drip of swear rolling down her forehead. She's definitely not cold.

The bell rang after 20 minutes and we hurried to our next class.
