Chapter 46

Skylor hadn't expected to be back to the Smith residence, but she was here once again, needing to complete an English project after Kai made the entire class do more work. Of course, she had only managed to complete 75% of the project since Kai spent the entire class snapping... girls 'n' stuff instead of paying attention to her–their projectwhich was 30% of their grade.

Skylor pressed the front door bell, hearing the distinct five-chime tune before a beat of silence. She heard socked feet padding down the stairs and an incoherent shout of 'im coming' that didn't exactly sound like Kai's usual melodic rasp— it was higher and lighter– not that she memorized the way Kai spoke or anything.

Her suspicions were confirmed when a blondie, who definitely wasn't Kai, opened the door.

"Ooooh you're Skylor." Lloyd–she recognized his green eyes– said, holding the door open for her to enter.

"Yup that's me." Skylor answered, stepping into the familiar home.

"Kai said you guys had a project to complete. English right?" Lloyd asked her as they went upstairs towards Kai's room.

"Yeah, we would've been finished if, Mr. Hot-Shot hadn't made Ms. Ford give us extra work." Skylor responded. Lloyd let out a chuckle.

"That's Kai for you. Always getting into trouble." Lloyd sighed.

"Heyyy! Are you talking about me, without me here? Come on Lloyd, you know i'm my favorite subject!" Kai joked, opening his bedroom door. Lloyd rolled his eyes before patting Kai on the shoulder.

"You can never get enough of yourself, can you?" Lloyd smiled. A ding from his phone caused him to give a short wave as he walked down the hallway to Nya's room, muttering something about a 'Harumi' and a 'date.'

"Well why don't you come in, I think we have plenty of work cut out for us. I suck at oral presentations." Kai pushed the door wider and flashing Skylor his signature playboy smirk.

Skylor lifted an eyebrow as she brushed past him, careful not to let her smile show. "Good thing you've got me to save your grade," she said lightly, pretending like the way he leaned in the doorway — all casual and cocky — wasn't unfairly attractive.

For a half-second, Kai actually looked caught off guard, his smirk faltering before he recovered with a low chuckle. "Careful, Red," he said, voice a little rougher. "Talk like that, and I might start thinking you like having me around."

Skylor would be lying if she said that her cheeks were a little bit hot. Luckily her layers of make-up covered any signs of her fluster. She set her computer down on his surprising organized desk before taking a seat on the rolling chair.

Kai took a seat–more like draped himself across the dark-red, plush couch next to the desk. He slipped open is laptop, brows furrowing as he looked through the document.

"Woah. You have to memorize all of this?" Kai asked, shocked. Skylor raised an eyebrow.

"Me? Your kidding. I know that you hardly care about your grades. But if we're doing this project together you are going to contribute to the presentation at the very least." Kai was not about the dump this entire project on her, no sir-ree. If there was one thing that Skylor was not it was a pushover.

"Ugh. fine, but I'm only doing this if...." Kai paused to think for a moment. Skylor rolled her eyes. Was he seriously negotiating this with her? This was his and her grade, and she did not play about her 4.0 gpa is you know what im saying. "....you go on a date with me."

Skylor froze her typing. Did he just say date? Did he just say that he'll only do his work if she went on a date with him? Skylor turned her chair towards Kai, so he could see the evident shock on her face. The jerk was sitting there with a smile on his face like he had not just asked her on a date. Hello! They hardly knew each other. Sure, they talked daily in English.

"Excuse me?" Skylor managed to get out. Perhaps Kai hadn't ask her for a date, perhaps he said 'what if we turned it in late?.' Sure teh syllables were off by a lot, but Skylor had been on the hard of hearing side since working in a restaurant with loud music all summer.

"You heard me..." Kai smirked. "I'll do the work if you go on a date with me."

"Ha! I'll go on a date with you if we get an hundred!" Skylor retorted. She instantly slapped a hand over her mouth. Curse her impulsiveness. She could see Kai grinning madly.

"Deal. We get an a hundred, and I get to take you out on a date." Kai said, a certain fire flaming in his eyes. Skylor would be lying if a very very–very teeny weeny piece of her was happy about this. A date with Kai, one of the–if not the most attractive guy in the grade. Skylor let her hand slip away, internally celebrating that she decided to wear 'non-smudge' makeup.

"Fine, but no 100 no date, I will not be making exceptions." She replied sternly.

"Yeah, yeah... What's your favorite restaurant, and your favorite type of flowers."

Skylor groaned. Instantly regretting going to the Smith's Residence.

Author's Note

was not expecting to get another chapter out, but i did.

WHat is with this section and dates, and couples? omg. Like i totally planned this but like damn, who's next? wait thats all of them. lol

Anyways this note totally isn't a grab for more words since this chapter is kinda short, i just like having one hundred words y'know? its a nice number and gives a perfect 5 minute reading time.

do yall like these short chapters of these parts? or should i just compile them all into one chapter per section. cuz the way we are going, this book is going to need a lot more than one wattpad book to contain all the 45-50 parts i have planned. Btw we are only on part 8 so far still in the first arc of the story.

Anwways I reacher 1000 thanks for listening to my blabbberrrr. BYEE. Next chapt probs won't be out till the weekend cu z i still go to school sadly. ANywaysssss bye agians
