Chapter 13: This is Your Night, so Smile (With Commentary)

It was now Friday! It was my birthday! happy birthday book daughter i'm a proud author mama

Frank and I had ditched school today. I had already tried to text Mikey, Ray and Denise, but they all seemed to have something else going on today.

Kristin texted me letting me know she wanted to hang out. Frank said we'd do something after I got home from hanging out with Kristin. Frank and Kristin were really trying to make the best of this. I appreciate that.

I got dressed in a black and purple dress along with my combat boots. I hugged Frank goodbye before I walked out the door to meet up with Kristin. I walked the short distance to her place, but she was already waiting outside for me. NOT BLACK AND PURPLE AGAIN this girl only knows one color scheme. Also it wouldn't feel right if I didn't say: Kristin can wait outside for me any day

"Happy birthday!" she exclaimed. I hugged her, and we both headed to her car.

*~Frank's P.O.V.~*

Everything was falling into place for Sky's birthday. We acted like everybody was busy so it wouldn't spoil the surprise.

When Sky left, I texted my mom, Denise, and Ray. Mikey texted me to let me know he'd be over with the cake soon.

Mikey was the first to show up. Apparently Ray had already gone to Mikey and Kristin's apartment, so he helped Mikey carry the cake over.

Next, my mom showed up. She hugged me and ruffled my hair, which embarrassed me a bit. Damn it, Mom. ok???

The last person to show up was Denise. She brought Katie with her. FINALLY KATIE GETS TO LEAVE THE HOUSE!! DENISE HAS HER LIVING LIKE RAPUNZEL DAMN

"Fwankie!" Katie exclaimed. I was glad to see she still used W's instead of R's. I don't want her to grow up yet.

"Hey kiddo!" I exclaimed. I picked Katie up and she cuddled up to my side. She has always liked me so much. She's so cute.

I set Katie down on the couch so we could all get to work on the decorations. My mom, Ray, and Denise started on the streamers while Mikey and I blew up the balloons. Then we switched so Mikey and I could rest our lungs. We finished the streamers before they finished the balloons, so we helped them again. you're trying to tell me she just sat there quietly while they did all this??? she's a toddler, do you think she's not gonna be annoying while you're decorating for a birthday party. Come on. When I was her age I would've stolen a chunk of the cake by now

We blew up hundreds of balloons, which took a while, because we kept taking breaks so we didn't pass out or some shit. We arranged the gifts on the table, then we double-checked to make sure everything was perfect.

We all planned our hiding places so we could surprise her. The entire decorating and planning process had taken like two and a half hours, so now we were ready to have Kristin bring her home.

Kristin texted us when she was nearby, so we shut all of the blinds, turned off all of the lights, and found our hiding places. I held Katie so I could make sure she kept quiet. It's hard to keep a three year old quiet for even ten minutes. YEAH BUT SHE SURE WAS COMPLETELY QUIET WHEN YALL WERE DECORATING FOR SOME REASON

As soon as we heard the door unlocking, we all got ready to jump out. I put Katie on my shoulders so she could be tall enough to surprise Sky. she can't surprise her if she's short??? there's a height limit on surprising people?? "must be this tall to surprise?????????"

The door opened, and the lights turned on. We all jumped out and yelled "surprise!" Even Kristin yelled it, and she hadn't been hiding. Kristin also threw confetti at her for added effect. Sky squealed a little bit with happiness. so did Kristin just bo burnham this shit and have confetti in her pocket the entire time for this moment? I admire the dedication

"You guys didn't have to do this! I thought you were all busy," she said.

I laughed. "All part of the plan, kid."

She hugged me first, because she probably figured out that this whole thing was my idea. Katie was still on my shoulders, so Sky hugged her too. Curse Sky for being taller than me.

The next people she hugged were Denise and my mom. Finally, a big group hug with Mikey, Ray and Kristin happened. ok

Sky seemed ecstatic. I was glad to see her so happy. I set Katie down and she went running to Sky. Sky picked her up and held her at her side.

"This is amazing. I love you guys so much," Sky said.

"We love you too, hun. Now let's get started on some presents!" Denise shouted. Sky giggled and sat on the couch. We started with the less personal presents and saved the guitar and the charm bracelet for last. did she put the kid down??

The first gift I handed her was a Green Day shirt. I bought it so she could replace the one she left at Gerard's place and never wanted to go back for. She smiled widely at me and hugged me. She really loved that shirt, and she was really sad when she left it behind. I TOLD YALL YOU COULD JUST GET A NEW ONE FROM HOT TOPIC

Next she opened a few more band shirts, and a few other things before we moved on to the big one. ok emo. 

It was hard to not make the guitar obvious, because it was so big, and it was heavy compared to the others. it was so big? that's what she said

"We all pitched in together to get you this one," I explained to her. She tore the paper off of it excitedly and she squaled when she saw what it was. SQUALED HAHAHAHA I'M NOT FIXING THAT 

"Oh my God, you guys are the best! You didn't have to do this!" she exclaimed. She jumped up and down slightly in excitement. BUT DID SHE PUT THE KID DOWN

"One more gift," Kristin said. She smiled and gestured to the small box containing the charm bracelet. Sky smiled widely and tore the paper off of the box. She pulled the box open and took the bracelet out.

She examined each charm of the bracelet before a huge smile broke out on her face. "This is one of the sweetest things anybody's ever gotten me. I love you guys," she said.

We all walked over to her, trapping her in one big hug. This made her laugh. whats with these people in group hugs? apparently 2015 M thought that group hugs would be a lot more prominent in my life than they are

The rest of the night was spent eating cake, listening to music, and just having a great time. I really hoped this made Sky happy. She seemed happy throughout the day.
