Dear Readers

Well, now that the story's (mostly) over and done, there's something very important I'd like to address, and I think it's very very important you all see this.

This story is fucked up.

Now, before you rush to defend it, let me explain something;

Skylar and Gerard's relationship is EXTREMELY toxic. Now, because this is a fictional story, Skylar puts up with it, Gerard changes, and everything is fine and dandy. This is almost never how it works out in real life.

If you continue to put up with abusive/toxic behavior from your partner, your partner will never learn that this is not the right way to treat you, and they'll never change. Never let someone treat you the way Gerard treated Skylar. They won't change like he did. I guarantee it.

If anyone ever treats you the way Gerard treated Skylar throughout this story, you should leave immediately. You all deserve so much better than someone who makes you feel like shit. Find you a partner who treats you like a prince/princess and makes you feel loved. You all deserve the absolute best.

This story is definitely NOT an example of how relationships should be. At all. If I've made it seem like it is, I'm genuinely, deeply sorry. I started writing this story when I was young and naive and impressionable and I thought that the relationships we see in the media were healthy. I was wrong.

If your partner has a bad temper and takes all of their stress out on you, they're toxic. If they constantly promise you they're going to change and then continue the behavior anyway, they're toxic. If your partner cheats on you, they're toxic. This is all behavior that Skylar put up with, but it's not okay. Don't be like Skylar.

In the wise words of @bandlover256 from a comment on the last chapter of the first part of this story, "HONESTLY, AT TIMES, I START TO QUESTION SKY'S SANITY

CAUSE LIKE, GERARD HAS BEEN NOTHING BUT A DICK TO HER THIS ENTIRE GODDAMN STORY

AND SHE STILL RIDING HIM"

Exactly.

Don't be like Skylar.

Also, don't date your teachers (or any authority figure). There will always be an imbalance of maturity and power, even if you don't notice it. If a teacher is showing any signs of romantic interest in you, you should also leave immediately. Find someone your own age who will also treat you like a prince/princess. You're all amazing and beautiful and one day you'll find someone who treats you how you deserve, and makes you feel beautiful, happy and loved. I found myself an amazing boyfriend who does all that for me, and someday you will too. I promise you that. 💕

I know it's pretentious of me to be rambling on about this as if this story is actually gonna influence anyone. I know that the majority of you aren't gonna take some long-winded post about toxic relationships made by a sixteen year old author of Gerard Way fanfiction seriously, and that's fine. I know it's extremely narcissistic of me to think that my shitty fanfiction will have any affect on anybody, but if even one of you takes this advice and uses it when you need it most, I'm happy. I just want to help people.

If you ever need ANYTHING, please message me. I'm here to help, or even just listen.

Thanks so much for reading! I love you all, and I'm here for you 💖💖

Xoxo,
M

P.S. I might write an alternate ending eventually, if enough of you guys want it. I think you guys deserve a happy ending. ❤
