Brrr. Upper East Siders, it's cold outside. And as February approaches, we need to find ways to fight frostbite. Some keep warm the old-fashioned way. Some seek the comfort of loved ones. And some try to keep away the gloom by painting things bright. Nothing says January like a brand-new cold war.

"Bed rest? I'm sorry, do you know me?". Ophelia scoffed as she sat in the doctor's office for her eight-month checkup. "Indeed, and I also know you want this baby to be as healthy as possible, so you'll be on bed rest for the next month until she's ready to come out." The doctor informed with a smile as though she'd just delivered the heiress the best news imaginable. "I don't think you understand. Being on bed rest is not possible for me." The heiress tried to argue but she was shut down by her doctor staring straight at her with an unimpressed look. "Unless you want your baby coming out a month before she's meant to I suggest you follow my instructions. Is Nathaniel on his way to pick you up?".

Looking at the empty chair beside her Ophelia shook her head to deny her doctors words. "My driver is downstairs." The heiress confirmed reluctantly, wrapping up the appointment with a folder filled with paperwork to occupy her brain in the last month of pregnancy. "Hopefully the next time I see you will be after you give birth." The doctor smiled, opening her office door and motioning for Ophelia to leave before she could also anymore questions or refused her professional opinion once more.

Reluctantly the heiress walked out of the doctor's office and into the car waiting by Alex, judging off her expression alone Alex knew something was wrong. "Miss. Ophelia, what's wrong?". The older man wondered, the familial relationship he'd developed for most of the heiress' life beginning to shine through. "I have to be on bed rest once we get home. Doctor's orders." Ophelia sighed, feeling defeated that her body wasn't cooperating enough to allow the pregnancy to come to a healthy end. "Well, I say this calls for a secret breakfast trip." Alex suggested sneakily allowing the heiress to sigh with relief. "Thank God. Please."

With Ophelia's confirmation Alex drove them straight to the 24-hour diner they'd spent a lot of the heiress' life bonding over. The older man knew he should've listened to the doctor's advice, but a plate of pancakes wasn't going to harm anyone and he made sure he'd have Ophelia back before she could strain herself further.

"I really needed this." The heiress smiled at the plate of pancakes that was in front of her. "Is it what the doctor ordered?". Alex smiled cheekily, enjoying his own plate as he enjoyed seeing the heiress in front of him relaxing and being able to enjoy without any guilt. "Absolutely yes." Ophelia laughed, sipping on her cup of tea before looking towards the older man with familial affection. "I guess if I'm on bed rest until she arrives you may as well go on holidays."  The heiress smiled genuinely. "Miss. Ophelia, that's not necessary." Alex dismissed but the heiress continued. "Nonsense Alex. You're always there for me, the least I can do is give you a break before baby arrives."
