Ch 8
"Look, see the whole country is covered in them now" Lyn had taken them all out to shown them how to hunt and trap.
"And how do you plan on catching It?"
no more the hundred paces away stood a lone buck.
"I don't, we can't use something that big, not unless we were staying for some time, we will have to leave soon and can't bring him with us. No, today I'll be showing you how to set a snare, I Know there not very nice, but this is more a world for finding a way to survive then caring about animal rights"
"You can't remember your past, but you know about animal rights" Tom laughed, though he didn't mean to be cruel in anyway, it was so strange to him that someone could know so much about so many things yet nothing about their own life. Lyn didn't snap though as she had done at Lucas for questioning her, this time she simply smiled and told Tom that many things came from books and the corporations databases. Then she continued by showing them how and where to set the snare "So here we go-"
"Why a snare, when we can just shoot what we need" Ash's voice was as argumentative, as it always was when he made the rare effort to talk to her, but this time as he looked over to Lucas and back to her trying to show how clever he was and clearly stupid she was, Lyn knew more than any other time he wanted to cause trouble.
Lucas had told her of their small altercation and now Ash seemed more determined then ever to show Lucas up for what ever feeling he may have for her.
"Well, Ash if any of those brain cells in there are working" Lyn took a step forward, and though Ash held his ground for a moment or two giving Lyn a quick look up and down it was obvious to all there he had concluded that he may dislike Lyn an unbelievable amount but he preferred to keep any mishaps to nothing more then words, he had no real idea what she could be capable of, but after the destruction of a whole city his thought to keep his distance were clear. "And as your up and walking around I'm sure you'll be able to understand that for one thing we are trying to keep away from prying eyes, so unless you want to return to the corporation your working for early without completing your mission, please stand out here all day just hoping something we can eat runs past. You, then you can shoot it, making as much noise as possible, cause that wont attract attention will it, and that's also why we can't use a net to catch rabbits, because unless again you'd like to sit out here for God knows how long, waiting for a rabbit to just run from its burrow and get caught in a net, oh but then there is the fact you might have to pull a ferret from your ass so that works, because in case you hadn't noticed I didn't bring one with me, and even if I had It would have been taken from me when I was picked up. So it's snares, because we can set them and then leave them and come back later, simple as that. Now any more stupid questions, Ash, or how about you shut up and lets get on before anyone sees us"
After Lyn had spent as little time as possible showing them all how to set up two different snares she divided up what she had picked from the bunkers food store that she felt would be the best to trap enough meat for at least a day or two she took Tom with her in one direction and sent Ash and Lucas in the other direction.
"Your falling for her" Ash slapped Lucas on the back of his head.
"Ow, what?" Lucas couldn't help feeling like what ever he felt for Lyn was wrong, though Ash's actions were clearly beginning to go over board.
Ash's then quickly darted behind a bush where he started setting their last snare to avoid any more physical repercussions for his behavior. Though he had slapped him, Lucas herd for the first time in days his old friend and not a man full of hatred for the woman so often in his presence.
