Ch 32

Ash lay trying to sleep on the sofa, sleeping had become a thing of dreams in itself these past days. The traveling had done his ankle no good, not only because Tom didn't have the right supplies to make him a proper pot, but Ash had insisted that it was far less damaged then it actually was. In pushing himself to far and refusing help, especially from Lyn had caused him to fall on it another three times, since they ran from the bunker.

There had been no bunker safe enough, or that wasn't occupied by the army for them to stay in. Ash new that Tom and Lyn had only stayed in something other then a tent, since Alan and Lucas had left for his sake, but by now even complaining seemed to difficult of a task.

At first he had pleaded with them to move somewhere closer to where Lucas ans Alan would be going, that way it would take them less time to get back, and if they needed, she would be closer to them, and he wouldn't care if it had to be in a tent for a few days if that's what they needed.

But Lyn and Tom had pushed his wines to one side even though it was clear that doing so hurt them both more then he could understand a reason for. It felt odd being told to keep quite or go finish work on the bomb, wile at the same time they both did everything they could to make life as easy as possible for him.

Long ago Lyn had worked out the true pain Ash was still in, which brought him to notice, her closing the gap between them and the other two. Lyn had constantly said to Tom that they were moving as close to Henry as she could without being detected, wile also making sure she could easily get to where Alan and Lucas said they would met her once they finished their mission.

Ash knew Lyn was still ling to Tom about her having no choice but to leave Alan and Lucas if they didn't met her on time, because it was better for Tom not to think her could be any sort of hero if she had to go after them.

So Ash said nothing about what Lyn was up to and acted as if she was doing just as she was telling Tom as well as moving him somewhere as comfortable as possible.

The house they originally stopped had been left far behind. Lyn insisted upon leaving when she had almost been seen on one of her scouting trips, by more of Henry's soldiers.

They had ended up in another long abandoned village, well hidden by the over grown country side around it. It had been half a days travel, even in the Land Rovers from where they had left Alan and Lucas, and Ash knew that Tom for the first time in his life felt a pain inside, that only having Alan back would fix. But it was Lyn he couldn't help but almost hate, she so easily covered the same feeling she had for Lucas, as if him not being with them simply meant he wasn't there, not that he may never return, and anger for his behavior still seeped through if Tom went on for to long about him and Alan and that they couldn't just leave them.

The house they now stayed in had a small now dead field round back, where it had taken both Tom and Lyn over two hours to make sure the Land Rovers were hidden properly, most of the hedgerow and logs grasses were either dead or bare. Wile they fought to hide two Land Rovers Ash sat and watched, making them ever more angry, with every passing minute as he pointed out some part they hadn't yet covered.

The house itself held little to be desired, very unlike the nicer house they had first been in, and had been long since cleared of anything of any value, either before, or after the evacuations. Like most houses in the village it had the signs of being once used as a safe house, its windows were all boarded up, the doors had been re-enforced, and at least ten extra locks attached to every door in the house.

No lights worked, but Lyn had gone on a scouting mission around the village and brought back every candle she could find. But at least he could still use his laptop, Lyn happily re-charged it for him and if needed would access the networks for information, though this had resulted in them asking more questions about Alan and Lucas then were answered.
