Ch 36
Arms flung themselves around Lyn's neck before she even had time to shut the bunker door and turn to check if anyone was waiting in the corridor for her and Lucas to come down from the surface.
"Thank God, Tom said what you did, I'd loved to av seen that, you took less time then I thought, suppose it would av been okay for you to leave one of the cars"
Lyn didn't jump or even pull herself away, she knew right away who had taken her in his arms, so she stood trying to hide from Lucas the grin that was beginning to spreed across her face.
She knew Lucas starred in pure shock over Ash's reaction to Lyn's safe return shown not only by how close he pulled her into his chest but also by the speed in which he spoke exhilarated with excitement at a want to know exactly what almost magical event he knew would have taken place only because of Lyn's presence.
Once Ash stopped to take a breath he gently rested his head on her shoulder, which to do Lyn knew he would have had to lower himself over a foot. Lyn didn't mind the ever disproving look Lucas kept giving her and then Ash who's eyes were closed so had know idea of, in fact she quite liked it. Lyn could not express the joy it brought her to have both Lucas and Alan back somewhere safe and with injuries what would take no more then a bandage or a few stitches at most, but somehow she felt safest in knowing they were all back together and that Ash had stayed put, so to was safe.
Lucas cleared his throat to which she now returned the same disproving glare he had given both of them. Lyn understood why Lucas wouldn't want Ash to be quite that close with her, but she wasn't his possession or any mans, not ever again.
Lyn had spent far to long with her life belonging to Henry and no men would ever have a hold of her like that again. Lyn knew Lucas had no intention of being anything like Henry towards her, but she also knew he now saw her as his woman, how ever per-historic that may be.
She wouldn't stop Ash though and as long as she wanted he could hold her as someone he loved and who she loved back. Lucas would just have to understand, though now still wasn't the time to explain why things had to be that way, why they had become even closer in the short time he and Alan had spent away from them, and why in fact Ash would have chosen to.
Lucas she knew would think that it only had to do with what feeling Ash held for her and until she was ready that's just how it would have to stay. Even when she found the courage to tell the truth, Lyn knew she'd never be able to tell him everything.
No Ash's tears, the way he screamed at Tom, protected her from even the slightest of his touches unless it was to what he needed to fix and the way he held her all night making sure she was still alive and that her baby was too. All those things would stay between her and Ash, Lucas would never need to know them, they didn't belong to him and it would only make him hate Tom all that more for his words and watch Ash that little bit more closely around her.
"Soz mate"
Lyn turned to see Ash's broad smile as he let her free and stood upright to wrap his arms now around Lucas, being oddly considerate of the wounds he didn't know for sure that Lucas may or may not have under his ripped, and blood stained T-shirt, which she had made him put back on.
Once Lucas could no longer see Ash's face his eyes shot back to Lyn as if still in disbelief she had actually returned and with everyone she had gone after and left with, meaning no one was dead. Ash's eyes then stopped looking her up and down and Lyn knew exactly where on her body they had reached.
Lyn could feel a lead weight drop inside her stomach as she watched Ash's smile fall away and be replaced by the same annoying look of worry Lucas kept surveying her with.
