Ch 29 

Alan had gone to lay down wile Tom finished tea, but in doing so had slept much longer then he had wished to. Alan had told himself that all it was, was a report, there was nothing he could do about what so many people already knew, and it was doing no good keeping it from the others. They needed to know, so his stupid worrying about Lyn would have to move aside, she needed to know no matter what her reaction, she would deal with it in the end and come up with a way around it. That's what she had been built for, and that's how he had taught her to cope, she would be just fine no matter what. 

Alan got up and headed for the kitchen hoping this time everyone was there and thankfully as he walked through the door he found them all sat around the table but Lyn curled in a ball in Lucas's lap. 

"Is she okay?" Alan quickly came to Lyn's side and gently kissed her forehead. 

"She's fine, just tired, she wouldn't sleep anymore, not after what happened, kept worrying about how everyone was, and that she still might go off in her sleep, so now she's not doing that odd beeping thing she wont go lay down" 

"Not that we blame her in anyway, we are all just fine" Tom said standing up from the notes he was making in some raggedy little note book and went to get Alan a plate so he could serve him from the bowl spaghetti sat in the middle of the table. 

"She said she'll help, when your ready" Lucas said, but he didn't look Alan in the face for long, it was clear that he didn't want Lyn doing anything until she was perfectly well again. Lyn though slightly opened her eyes and gave a quick smile before letting her arm flop in front of Alan. 

Lucas gave a heavy shy as he opened Lyn's laptop that lay closed on the table and faced the screen towards Alan who then moved to sit in the chair next to them both, and took the flesh coloured cable from Lucas's out stretched hand. 

"You haven't slept much" Alan spoke with concern, hoping that showing how worried he was for Lyn would make Lucas understand that he would never use Lyn in this state if he had any other way to get the information he needed. 

"Ya well he just said that, she wont, she thinks something will happen" it wasn't Lucas who answered though or even Lyn, but Ash who lifted his head to look over the top of his own laptop, swallowing a mouth full of spaghetti. "She been bugging me like every two minutes about that bomb, like anythings going to have happened in such a short time" and then he was back starring at his own screen. Tom gave him a most disgruntled look as he placed the plate of food beside Alan.  

Tom had insisted many a time that no one be using their computer at the table and most of the time they listened but clearly today Ash had found whatever he was doing more important then Tom wanting something to be like normal family life. 

Alan looked back to Lyn, but she once again had shut her eyes, so he met the eyes of Lucas in stead. He looked almost as tired as Lyn did, and Alan knew he lack of sleep wasn't due to Lyn keeping him awake, but because of his non stop worry for her. Nothing was said between them, Alan didn't know what to say, so he quickly plugged Lyn in to her laptop, and started looking for the information he needed them all to hear. 

Alan sat searching for some time. A disc had been offered to him when the solders found out he was leaving again, but with Lyn to think about nothing could be trusted, not even from the kindest of allies. So he left with nothing more then what they had told him, knowing that with Lyn's help he could find the information on the corporation and special forces networks and leave no evidence any of them had ever been on line.  

Alan found what he needed quicker then he'd liked, he wasn't sure he was ready to show them anymore, not after seeing Lyn like this. So until his nerves steadied Alan read, and re-read the report in front of him a report his had read about ten time already and nearly knew word for word, but all the same there might have been something he missed beforehand.
