Ch 28 

Lucas had lied at Lyn's side for hours, watching her sleep. Sadly he noticed it wasn't like the last time she had recharged, dreams were racing through her mind and there was nothing he could do, and this time she just wouldn't wake when they upset her to much. 

He climbed out of bed, left the room and knocked on Tom's bedroom door. 

On looking at his watch Lucas realised it was late morning. They had arrived at a new bunker in the early evening of the day he had found Lyn in the clearing. It had been far harder then they thought getting around the pickets and they didn't want to leave Becky and her father with just anyone. They had promised a proper settlement, and that,s just what they were going to find. So Alan had said it would be best for them both to spend the night in the bunker with the five of them and at least that way they could get properly cleaned up and get a better nights sleep. 

But all Lyn had done was sleep, all through the day beforehand, all through the night he lay at her side being unable to sleep himself, and all the way through the morning, though it seemed like everyone else had too.  

There was no sound from any of the rooms and no sound drifted from the way of the kitchen or bathrooms. 

Lucas knocked again, this time a little harder, and this time there was a short burst of movement before the door slowly creaked open. 

"Is Alan there?" Lucas asked before Tom even had chance to ask what he wanted. 

"Well good morning to you too, but no, he left about an hour ago with Becky and her father" 

"Great" 

"Whats wrong, you look like you've been crying" 

"No, me....I....I don't-' 

"Okay if you say so, Lyn?" Lucas just nodded and waited for Tom to quickly pull some clothes on. Unlike him, Tom had chosen not to sleep in his clothes. "Lead the way"  

Lucas did just that, and stood over the bed that he had laid in watching Lyn all night.  

"Well what is it? She looks to be just sleeping" 

"Its not like when she recharged last time, shes dreaming and I can't wake her, she wont recharge right? Will she if she doesn't sleep properly? Somethings stopping her that beep keeps going off" 

Just then Lyn started to whimper in upset and pain slightly throwing her head about her pillow. 

"ASH" Tom shouted from where he stood "He's the next best thing, Alan's been teaching him about her wile they worked on the bomb, lets hope he has an idea, but whats this beep your talking about?" 

"Oh, um...., don't know really I just know it goes off when she needs to recharge, but we don't know what happens if she doesn't, so an idea for what?" 

Ash stood in the doorway rubbing sleep from his eye's, it to looked liked he hadn't slept much and just like Lucas had kept his close on. "Ya an idea for what?" 

"Well that was quick, its Lyn she's trying to recharge, but those dreams are getting in the way, we don't think she can shut down properly and that means she can't recharge, wright? So I was hoping you might have an idea about what to do, Alan's not here" 

"Well. I think so, can't you wake her?" 

"No" 

"Right then there's only one thing I can think of" Ash looked to Tom, it was clear it was something Lucas wouldn't agree with and be determined to stop them doing.
