Ch 30

"Whats wrong" Ash's whisper broke the almost silent car journey

"With who?"

"Them" Ash indicated to the car in front and Lyn followed his gaze.

They had all left not long after Lyn had woke the next evening. Lucas thought that was too soon for her, but she insisted upon it, and wouldn't listen to any of his complaints. After all she simply hadn't finished recharging, but now she had. Lyn said they needed to be be getting closer to Henry and there were supplies they needed, she had already slept for over a day and she didn't like the mood everyone was in when she had woken.

Lyn had woken to find Ash sat outside her bedroom door saying nothing, but that there were medical supplies they needed and Lucas had said they didn't have enough rounds to go after Henry especially if he had his own army now. Lyn had asked if they had all read the report but that had only made him upset, she knew why but said nothing. Until now that is.

"Its the report, you didn't read it did you?" Lyn already knew the answer though.

"No, Lucas wouldn't let me see your laptop after he and Tom had seen it. What does it say?"

"It tells everyone about the missions you three were on" Lyn could almost feel Ash's heart sink.

"What, no....I...You don't-" Ash's voice was full of pinic

"No, I know who you are now, and I know just like them you left your mission behind long ago, sadly their not so sure"

"That's why they wont talk to me they said I should know why, I had some idea but...but. What about you?" Ash look to the back seat where Alan sat.

"I wouldn't be here if I didn't believe you had changed, I trust Lyn. She said she would drive one of the cars and said you would go with her they don't like it, least of all Lucas, but I said I'd keep an eye on you"

"So what now? You just leave me somewhere? Kill me?"

"Ash" Lyn slammed the brakes on "I'm sat here, because I trust you, no matter what Tom or even Lucas thinks, I've known about your mission for much longer then you think, I had all three of your information within days of me being with you, and what I didn't have I got after being properly switched on. I need you because I need that bomb"

"Great then what you'll kill me after it's done?"

"Stop being stupid, your also my family, one of the only people I remember, so the fact you were meant to take me to that bunker, hundreds of feet below the ground and blow me up doesn't matter, because you didn't do it, your here helping me, not just save this world but helping me become as human as I used to be. As far as I am concerned all you three ever were is one bomb and computer expert, one medical officer, and one Sargent in charge of a group of infantry front line soldiers, nothing else. Now lets get on, there's things to do" Lyn didn't speak again, but Alan finally making his presence from the back seat known, tightly put his hand over Ash's shoulder to show he felt the same as Lyn.

Lyn had lost sight of the car Lucas drove wile she had been shouting at Ash, but she kept on the same road anyway and finally found him and Tom stood next to their car. They had parked in the middle of and abandoned village squire, lit only by what was left of the fading winter sun. Lyn pulled up and rolled down the window zipping up her coat against the cold and fast approaching dense layer of fog.

"Good job its not dark yet, or I'd have ever found you, anyway, we can't stay here, come on we'll have to find a house to stay in for now, then you and Alan need to leave" Lyn then rolled her window back up and drove down one of the side streets. She didn't let Lucas speak, the look on his face still showed how angry he was with Ash, and her for opting to drive the car with him in it. But she trusted Ash and not even her love for Lucas would make her change her mind.
