Chapter Five
She welcomed the darkness. It meant there would be no pain, no need to think.
Yet even in the darkness there were sounds, a voice calling out a name repetitively.
She believed the voice was calling her as she drifted through the darkness.
It was warm and she was reluctant to leave the comfort of nothingness, but she was curious. Her hands reached out, feeling nothing.
Where am I? she asked herself.
The voice in her head answered, sounding on the brink of laughter.
You're asleep. Open your eyes girl. Wake up and face reality. Come now, don't be afraid. I won't hurt you. I'm your friend. Do you want to be here all alone forever?
No-she answered. I don't want to be alone. I'm missing something.
Open your eyes then, the voice coaxed.
So the girl opened her eyes and was blinded by a bright light.
