She thought she was getting somewhere better. Maybe not physically but emotionally. Her working hard in a heartless place, sacrificing for her son and his education.Everything she did, she thought of him. Her son. She never been selfish, not when it came to him. She gave and gave just to see him smile. But it only took one person to walk into their lives and mess it all up. Years of hard work washed down the toilet in one flush. And the tears that she hated and fought of her sons face had made itself known.

"Care explaining why you and your son is living in this dump!?" His words came back once again to her mind. Her home was considered a dump? All her sacrifice to get a roof over her and her child's head was described as a dump?

She always tried to think positive. Thinking that there was always someone worse off than her in the world. But today she realized that no that is not true. She was the worst. Maybe it was time for her to give up. Maybe it was time to bend her head in defeat and go back to her parents....

More tears found its way into her eyes and flowed down her face.

It had taken an hour to calm down her son and get him to sleep. She knew she had to talk to him about his imaginations but seeing as one of his dreams just broke him, she could not find the heart. Her own heart was in pieces at the moment.

Finding it hard to breathe either from her crying or the darkness, she sat up on the couch, pushing her blankets away. Sleep would not come easy tonight. Maybe it was time to start to make preparations to go home.

This would be best for Hayden. This 'dump' is not a home, at least not anymore....

It was foolish of her to think she was moving when she went no where at all.

Matthew POV

Driving to the closest bar he could find, he found himself sitting at the counter, drinking anything the bartender placed before him like water.

"Wow take it easy there mate." The bartender called to him as he downed another drink. Ignoring him he continued.

In the wee hours of the morning he stumble out of the bar. His feet feeling like noodles beneath him.

After trying numerous times to unlock his car, he finally got true on the fifth time.

"Stupid key! Hold straight will you!" he cursed lowly.

Getting into his car he pushed the car seat back and took two breaths, his vision started to blur and then everything went dark...

"Ey dude!" A voice said too far away.

"Hmmm" Matthew groaned as his head began to hurt.

"Dude wake up!" There the voice goes again. Where was it coming from?

Matthew tried to open his eyes to see but the bright light blinded him, causing his eyes to pain as well.

"Dude!" The voice began to shake him now.

Blinking a few times, his eyes finally adjusted to the light. He looked to his side to see a familiar face looking back at him.

"Hey you." He groaned as pain shoot through his head again.

"What happened? How did you-"

The voice suddenly stopped as darkness wrapped it arms around him over again.

Stretching comfortable on the soft bed, Matthew smiled in content. Wait bed! He jerked up causing another pain to pass through his head.

"Ow!" He moaned holding onto it.

"That's what you get when you don't invite me." He heard a familiar voice joked.

Looking up, he realized he was in his room and the voice belonged to no other than Slyer. Placing his hands over his eyes he whispered.

"Close the blinds will you."

He listened while Slyer shuffled towards his blinds and closed it, darkness filling most of the room. Slyer sat on his bed, looking at him with a stern expression on his face.

"What happened?"

"What do you mean 'what happened'?" Matthew asked stubbornly. He dropped his weight back onto his bed and sighed happily while hugging a pillow to his chest.

"You know what I mean, don't play dumb with me!" Syler spat, pulling the pillow out of Matthew's grasp. Ignoring his complaints he narrowed his eyes again. "Spill now!"

"Ok ok, stop shouting will you... My head hurts. I just felt like drinking...." Matthew shrugged his shoulders at his friend like it was no big deal.

"Felt like drinking huh? Since when have you liked drinking?" Slyer knew his friend well and knew he was lying. Him keeping it from him made him think the problem was more serious than he thought. When Matthew did answer he continued. "Dude, I found you blacked out lying on the car seat with your car door open! That is not just a normal 'I feel like drinking' behaviour." Slyer raised his hands using air quotes trying to get his friend to realize how serious this was.

Matthew still said nothing. Sighing Slyer stormed out of his room. "Fine, be like that you big baby!"

Matthew turned at the sound of his friend's retreating foot steps. He saw no reason to tell him why he acted no silly and for a girl... Syler would have a field day with it. His mind drifted back to the night.

His behaviour towards Hayden was unforgivable, he regretted it. If only he could go back and change it. Hayden's mother must hate him. How could he ever show his face to them again?

Suddenly an idea popped into his head. He could help them... But first he must do one important thing.

Reaching out to his nightstand and finding his phone he pressed call on the number he had on speed dial. After the second ring he heard a soft voice answer.

"Hello Mat?"

He smiled. "Hi Mom."
