Hailey POV
Explaining what happened to Hayden was hard. Making him understand was even harder- she herself did not understand fully what she was doing.
She had their belongs packed before she left to go pick him up from school. Reaching home she sat him down and told him everything that had happened. He looked lost most of the time. Confused even. She needed to remember that this was a child in front of her, she was telling a child about adult things. But some things she could not keep from him, he needed to know. They have been a team since he was born and they do everything as such. This was not an exception.
When she was finished, she made sure that he ate before they left. She had no idea what to expect. The life that they lived, she learned that you always expect the unexpected. There was a fine line between life and death.... Smiling at him as he ate she brushed his bangs of his face with her hands. His straight brown hair had grown so quickly. She needed to get it cut soon, on her first paycheck hopefully.
"Mommy why are you not eating as well?" Hayden's soft question brought her out of her thoughts. She looked at his sweet face and smiled.
"Because I am not hungry sweetheart." She lied smoothly. There was no more bread to make anymore sandwiches. Another important lesson learnt from life. Her child always came first.
After Hayden finished his meal, Hailey washed his dishes and packed it into one of the boxes. She made sure they both took a shower. It was the last time they would do these things in this appartment. Was it silly for her to feel sad even though they were moving to something better?
It's ridiculous right? Maybe she was ridiculous. Maybe this whole thing was ridiculous!
She sighed loudly. She promised herself she would not overthink this and here she go again...
Closing her eyes she counted to ten, slowly and softly. One. Two. Three. She continued. Feeling refreshed and focused, she pushed all doubts away, far far away to the back of her mind.
Whatever happens on the way be it bad or good, she promised she would act accordingly when it came the time. And what she had to remember the most was this was not that time....
Smiling at her new resolve she called out to her baby.
"Hey Hayden are you finished? "
"Yes mommy I am, be right there!" He called back from his room. After few minutes, he appeared wearing a white T-shirt, black unbuttoned shirt, blue jeans and black sneakers.
Suddenly a horn sounded. Walking over to the window, Hailey peered through to see a black BMW parked waiting for her. She ran towards her mirror, scanning her image, making sure she looked presentable. She pulled at her knee length black dress and combed her hands through her long brown hair. She wore no jewelry. Simply because she didn't possess any. She hoped that she looked great given the circumstances...
"Mommy come on!" Hayden called from the next room.
"Coming!"

Hailey's mind raced with questions and doubts the entire ride. She looked at the driver from the rear view mirror hesitantly. She didn't know if it was just her nerves or the fact that he wore a black shades concealing his eyes from view that made her nervous.
When she and Hayden had appeared out of their apartment building, he had smiled kindly at her as he took their bags and placed them into the trunk of the vehicle. Her eyes skimmed over his attire. All black.
Hmm well look at that, the men in black did exist.
A slow smile made its away up to her lips when he opened the door for her and she and Hayden both stepped inside. Closing the door behind her, she looked on as he rounded the vehicle and brought it to life.
"May I ask you your name?" Hailey spoke shyly. She thought that she should at least be polite to her new boss's employees. Making friends didn't seem like such a bad idea. She needed at least one person to make her comfortable and to keep her nerves from exploding inside her.
"Greg Dawson at your service madam." The drive turned his head slightly towards her and smiled.
Hailey blushed. "I am Hailey Johnson and this is my son Hayden." Hailey introduced them both.
The drive nod slightly. "Nice to meet you both." He turned his attention back to the road and drove of.
Half an hour later, Hailey's hands began sweating where it was folded on her legs. She looked over to her son who had been silent since they left their apartment. Leaning slightly in his direction she bumped his shoulders, bring his attention from the window to her. She nod her head, silently asking him what was wrong. He shook his head slightly back at her, telling her nothing was wrong.
Knowing something was definitely wrong- call it mother's intuition, Hailey lifted her arm and circled his shoulders pulling him to her into a hug. They stayed like that the rest of the way. Everyone consumed with their own thoughts.

One hour later, the car turned off the endless road and drove up a dirt road. Hailey turned away from Hayden's now sleeping form and gasped. Both sides of the dirt road was filled with all types of fruit trees and flowers. Feeling the car slowing, she looked forward with orb shaped eyes. A huge white bricked mansion stood firmly. Hearing the door open, she looked over to see the driver smiling at her reaction. She smiled politely at him and slowly got out, reaching in and lightly lifting Hayden in her arms. He stirred a bit but wrapping his arms around her and snuggling closer he fell fast asleep again. She rubbed his back tenderly, her eyes refusing to leave the beautiful house which stood merely a few steps away. Her gaze drifted to the very top where she could see someone standing looking back at her. It was a man, dressed in a black suit, his figure looked almost captivating.
Hearing the driver clearing his throat, she looked at him, already with her bags in hand, he motioned for her to follow him. She began walking after him, lifting her head one last time to the mysterious man that stood about to find the balcony now empty.
Where had he gone?
