‘Can we stop?’ Hope asked exhausted.
‘No we can’t, come on you’re so slow!’ Faith said looking behind her.
‘Firstly you don’t have to carry a book with you that is pretty heavy and secondly I am tired!’ Hope said.
‘Cranky.’ Faith said.
Hope rolled her eyes.
‘I’ve had enough! I need my sleep! I am too tired to walk further.’ Hope said stopping with walking and sitting down on the ground.
‘Hope come up.’ Faith said.
‘No.’ She said.
‘Hope. Come. Up!’ Faith said.
‘Not before you promise me we can go somewhere, where I can sleep.’ Hope said.
‘It’s not even late.’ Faith said.
‘Watson…. we’ve been walking for hours now…. it can’t be darker outside.’ Hope stated.
‘Okay, okay you’ve made your point clear.’ Faith said.
Hope smiled satisfied.
‘So where do we need to go to get some rest then?’ Faith asked.
‘You’re asking me?’ Hope asked.
‘Yes, you’ve got the map.’ Faith said.
‘Oh yeah right.’ Hope said.
‘Mmm.’ Hope said.
‘What?’ Faith asked.
‘It only shows me a path that leads us to my parents.’ Hope said.
‘Maybe the book tries to say that we need to go further.’ Faith said.
‘Sure.’ Hope said.
‘Not gonna do that.’ Hope said.
‘Don’t you know a place?’ Hope asked.
‘Nope, only been in and around the castle.’ Faith said.
‘Of course.’ Hope sighed.
‘Hè don’t blame me!’ Faith said.
‘Sorry, I’m just so tired.’ Hope said.
‘Come on, let’s walk further, maybe on our way we’ll find something.’ Faith said.
Hope nodded and got up. They started to walk again, but they didn’t find a village or somewhere to sleep.
‘I’m hungry.’ Faith said.
‘Me too.’ Hope said.
‘Stupid we didn’t take anything with us.’ Faith said.
‘When did we had to do that?’ Hope asked.
‘I don’t know.’ Faith said shrugging her shoulders.
‘We’ll find something soon.’ Hope said.
Then Hope smelled something sweet.
‘Do you smell that?’ Faith asked.
Hope nodded.
‘Come it’s this way.’ Faith said taking Hope’s wrist in her hand and pulling her with her.
‘Faith I don’t know, we’re not on the path anymore.’ Hope said looking in the book.
‘We’ll go back when there is nothing.’ Faith said.
‘Faith, I’ve got a bad feeling about this.’ Hope said.
‘That’s because you’re hungry, come on.’ Faith said fastening her step.
‘Faith, this doesn’t feel right at all.’ Hope said.
‘The smell is coming from this way.’ Faith said pulling Hope between trees.
They had walked into a forest and weren’t walking on a path anymore.
‘Faith we have to go back.’ Hope said.
‘No we don’t, we’re close.’ Faith said.
And then Faith stopped, Hope wasn’t looking and bumped into Faith’s back.
‘Faith!’ Hope said.
‘Look.’ Faith said.
Hope stepped aside so she could see what Faith was seeing.
‘Faith, don’t you dare to go to that house.’ Hope said looking at the house that was covered in candy.
It looked like a ginger bread house, there was a little pond with pink liquid in it.
‘Faith!’ Hope said when she noticed Faith was already at the beginning of the garden.
‘Faith Watson come here! Immediately.’ Hope hissed.
Faith bowed down and got a lollypop from the garden.
‘Hmmm it’s delicious.’ Faith said.
‘Oh my gosh don’t you see it?’ Hope asked pulling Faith back.
But Faith didn’t want to go away from all the candy so she pulled her arm back and walked further into the garden.
‘Think Faith! The candy is messing with your head, remember the story of Hansel and Gretel?’ Hope asked desperately.
Hope knew exactly what would happen next if Faith didn’t listen.
‘What are you talking about?’ Faith asked not even making the afford to look up.
‘Shoot she never read my book!’ Hope realised.
‘Faith come, before the witch co-‘ Hope started.
‘Good day girls.’ An adorable looking old woman asked, who was standing in the door opening of the candy house.
Faith looked up.
‘Oh I’m so sorry, I didn’t know someone was living here.’ Faith said.
‘Don’t worry child, I can see you are hungry. Would you like to come in and eat more?’ The old woman asked.
‘No thank you miss, we need to go further.’ Hope said.
‘I insist, come in.’ The old woman said.
‘Faith come on, we need to go.’ Hope said.
‘Actually, I am really hungry and I know you are too, come on let’s eat something inside.’ Faith said coming towards Hope and grabbing her wrist.
‘Faith no! You’re going to kill both of us.’ Hope hissed.
Hope had dropped the book behind a tree and fast covered it with leaves, just at the old woman had opened the door. Hope had this seen coming and after they were in that house, they would have a hard time to get out, as she knew what the old woman was going to do.
‘Faith let me go, we need to get away from here as fast as possible.’ Hope hissed.
‘You’re such a party-pooper.’ Faith said.
‘Faith we need to go.’ Hope said trying to pull Faith with her, but Faith was a bit stronger than her.
Then they were in the house. Hope saw the old lady close the door when they were in and then she walked towards them. Hope’s heart was beating really fast.
‘Sit down girls, sit down.’ The old woman said.
‘I’m sorry miss, but we really need to go.’ Hope said.
‘Come on child, what kind of person would I be to let two starved children go away, without letting them eat something?’ The woman asked.
‘The best person in the world.’ Hope thought.
Hope gave her a sweet smile and carefully sat down next to Faith, who was already putting all kinds of candy into her mouth.
‘Does it fit?’ Hope asked.
‘’hut up you and ‘t ‘ome’ing.’ Faith said with her mouth filled with food.
Hope rolled her eyes, she was not going to eat anything from the candy, what if the candy was making you mad?
‘Dear child eat something, come on.’ The old lady said.
‘No thank you.’ Hope said.
‘Come Faith we really need to go now.’ Hope said after 5 minutes.
Hope stood up pulling Faith with her. Hope was walking towards the door, but then the old lady spoke.
‘I don’t think I can let you go away.’ She said.
‘I’m sorry? What did you say?’ Hope asked turning around, but the old lady was away.
Hope turned back to the door and now she was standing there, leaning against the wall.
‘I said that I can’t let you go away now.’ She said evilness could be heard in her voice.
‘Hope….’ Faith whispered.
‘Mmm.’ Hope said.
‘I think we better need to go.’ Faith whispered.
Hope rolled her eyes.
‘So sit down, and eat.’ The old lady said.
‘No thank you, we are not hungry anymore, so let us go.’ Faith said.
‘Sit down.’ The old lady said.
‘Let us go.’ Hope said.
Then robes were around both of their legs and they were pulled down and towards the back of the house.
‘Let us go.’ Hope shouted kicking and trying to get hold of something, but it didn’t work.
‘LET US GO.’ Hope shouted.
Then they were thrown in cages and they immediately locked themselves. Hope and Faith both tried to open them to shake the doors as hard as they could, but it didn’t work at all. The old lady laughed.
‘It took so long before kids were walking in this forest. I haven’t seen anyone after the Evil Queen was gone.’ The old lady said.
‘What are you going to do with us?’ Faith asked.
The old woman laughed again.
‘Erm, Faith… she’s going to eat us.’ Hope said.
‘What?’ Faith said.
‘But first you both need to get some more fat.’ The old lady said.
The old lady walked away and Faith turned to Hope.
‘How did you know?’ Faith asked.
‘I actually read books, I don’t only look at the pictures.’ Hope said.
‘Was this in your book?’ Faith asked.
‘Ssssh.’ Hope said putting her finger in front of her mouth.
‘Where is it?’ Faith whispered.
‘I’ve hidden it.’ Hope said.
‘What did you hide?’ The old lady asked.
‘Nothing.’ Hope said.
‘I heard you talk to the other one, what did you hide?’ The old woman said.
‘I didn’t hide anything, you must’ve heard it wrong.’ Hope said.
‘Okay then.’ The old woman said walking towards them.
She opened the cage of Faith and grabbed her hair, pulling her out of the cage.
‘Don’t hurt her.’ Hope said.
The old woman had packed a knife from her dress pocket and put the blade against Faith her neck.
‘Tell me what you hid, or I’ll kill her.’ The old woman said.
‘No please don’t!’ Hope said.
‘Tell it!’ The old woman said.
‘Go away from her.’ Hope said, she felt her eyes filling with tears and her view became blurry.
‘You’ve got three seconds.’ The old woman said putting the knife more deeply against Faith her neck.
‘Don’t! Don’t do it! Let her go.’ Hope begged.
‘Do not say it.’ Faith mouthed.
‘Three.’ The old lady said.
‘Don’t please I’m begging you, don’t hurt her.’ Hope begged.
Tears now rolling down her cheeks.
‘Two.’ The old lady said.
‘Let her go! I’ll do everything! Let her go.’ Hope said.
‘Tell me what you hid.’ The old lady said.
Hope looked at Faith, but when Hope wanted to say it, Faith shook her head. Hope saw a tear rolling down Faith her cheek and then the old lady said ‘One.’
