Chapter 39

‘After I found my parents back there was a huge celebration in Corona for my return the next week. Eugene had woken me up that day with a little box in his hands. I had barely opened my eyes and he asked me to marry him, of course I said yes immediately, I felt he was my true love.’ Rapunzel told smiling as a blush came up in her cheeks.

‘After the celebration everyone went back home and Eugene and I talked further with my parents, about everything. Eugene and I told my parents of our engagement and they were both truly happy for us. My father was protective over me, he took Eugene apart and talked to him for a  long time. My mother and I had both gone to bed when Eugene finally came into our room. My father had given him a full interrogation.’ Rapunzel chuckled.

Hope smiled.

‘How was Flynn?’ Hope asked.

‘He was in a bad state.’ Rapunzel chuckled.

‘Sweat on his forehead and overly red cheeks.’ Rapunzel said.

Hope laughed.

‘Poor Flynn.’

‘He didn’t want to talk about it he had said to me, two weeks later we married.’ Rapunzel said.

‘Two weeks?’ Hope asked widening her eyes.

Rapunzel nodded.

‘That’s fast, wasn’t there a lot to prepare?’ Hope asked.

‘Of course, but everyone in the kingdom helped.’ Rapunzel said smiling.

‘There live lovely people here, all so friendly and kind.’ Rapunzel said.

‘You know what I’ll take you this afternoon to show you the kingdom.’ Rapunzel said.

‘That would be great.’ Hope said smiling.

Rapunzel smiled and nodded.

‘Well three years after the wedding I found out I was pregnant.’ Rapunzel said.

Hope nodded.

‘That’s quite a long time, isn’t it?’ Hope asked.

Rapunzel smiled.

‘You forget that I was 18 when I returned home, I wanted to wait at least until I was 20 or 21.’ Rapunzel said.

Hope nodded understanding.

I don’t even want to think about me being pregnant next year.

‘Three years after Finn was born my father announced he would best the duty of ruling the kingdom to me, his only daughter. I had grown really close with him and my mother in the five years I had been home. As if I had been there my whole life. After my coronation I had been very busy with everything, the stress had gotten to me and I collapsed, Eugene was there to catch me just in time, but as he was trying to get me back to consciousness Finn ran away. Thirty minutes later I finally woke up in my bed. When I asked for Finn, Eugene went searching for him, but-‘ Rapunzel stopped and bit her lip ‘couldn’t find him. He had been so busy with me, he had forgotten to watch over our three year old son. We immediately put in the search parties and went looking for him on horses ourselves. Maximus is a great searcher, I hoped he could find him. He did find a piece of his clothes, but that’s it. We had been looking for him for over two weeks and still no sign. I started to give up, I slowly lost my hope to find our son, Eugene didn’t let me, he assured me that we would find him.’ Rapunzel said.

‘Then we got the letter from your mother.’ Rapunzel said.

‘Seriously?’ Hope asked.

Rapunzel nodded.
