Once Upon a Time

Chapter 36

‘Hope.’ Hope heard behind her.

She was just leaving the castle with her parents and Faith. Walking outside with Finn and his parents.

Hope turned around and saw Jace running up to her.

‘I haven’t seen you the rest of the evening, where were you?’ Hope asked.

‘I had to think.’ Jace said.

‘Of what?’

‘I was figuring out if this would be a good idea or not.’ Jace said as he grabbed her wrist and pulled her after him. He stopped when they were standing behind a thick tree.

‘What are you talking abo-‘ Hope started and then Jace stopped, turned around, pulled her into him and pressed his lips against hers.

Hope panicked for a split second and then gave in. She placed her hand on Jace’s cheek and closed her eyes, kissing him back. Jace pulled away and Hope saw he had flushed cheeks, which she had too, as she could feel the heat in her face. Jace looked at her with a small smile on his face.

‘I’m sorry.’ he said.

‘Oh erm- don’t be.’ Hope said.

‘I was just surprised.’ Hope said with a small smile.

‘Hope.’ Someone called.

‘I think I have to go.’ Hope said.

‘Mind if I contact you?’ Jace asked.

‘Of course not.’ Hope said smiling.

Hope took a step closer to Jace and gave him a quick, gentle kiss on the lips and then walked back to the path. She saw Snow waiting outside the carriage for her and motioned for her to come. Hope walked over to the carriage and before she stepped in, turned around to look behind her. Jace watched her with a smile on her face and waved. Hope waved back and then stepped into the carriage, Jace disappearing from her sight.

‘Something happened?’ Faith whispered.

‘I’ll tell you later.’ Hope said softly back.

Hope walked into her room and let herself fall on her bed.

‘Don’t you need to tell me something?’ Faith asked walking into Hope’s room.

Hope sat up straight and smiled.

‘Jace kissed me.’ Hope said.

‘What?’ Faith asked.

It was not the expression Hope was hoping for from her best friend, she thought Faith would be happy for her, sit down and ask her how it was and the details. Faith was looking down at Hope, with a mixture of emotions crossing her face, but the main emotion that was showed on Faith’s face was anger, to Hope’s surprise.

‘Something wrong?’ Hope asked.

‘How can you be so stupid?’ Faith exclaimed.

‘Excuse me?’ Hope asked surprised.

‘Why did you do that?’ Faith asked.

‘Because.’ Hope said.

‘Are you in love with him?’ Faith asked.

‘I don’t know, he’s really nice and charming.’ Hope said.

‘Why would you kiss him if you don’t know you even love him?’ Faith said.

‘Love is a big word Watson.’ Hope said getting up from her bed.

‘What are your feelings telling you then?’ Faith asked.
