Fifty-Six

[3 Months Later - July]

{Colin's POV}

"Daddy, why can't we go with you?" Riley says laying on our bed, looking up from her iPad. Aaliyah and I are packing to head to LA for the ESPYs and Riley's not too happy about having to stay with grandma and grandpa.

"Because, this is an event for grown ups. We talked about this, remember."

"No, I don't remember."

"That's because you cried and threw a hissy fit after I told you."

"Because I wanna gooooo." She whines.

"Riley...baby we're only gonna be gone a couple days." Aaliyah says.

"Yeah, it's just a couple days." I sit down next to her on the bed. "And if you're good, I'll take you to the Nickelodeon Kid's Choice Awards with me next month." Her face lights up. I'm nominated for "Kid's Choice Athlete" and I already had plans to take her, but she doesn't need to know that. Deception at its finest. "Do we have a deal." I hold up my hand and she gives me a high five then I tap her on the tip of the nose with my finger. "Are you all packed?"

"Yup."

"Okay, go get your bag and bring it downstairs. You aunt and uncle should be here any minute."

"Okay." She places her iPad on the bed and hops off. The dog trails behind her. "BUBBY'S UP!" She yells.

"I'll go get him." Aaliyah says.

My boy is getting bigger by the day. Now that he's been crawling for a couple months, he likes to get into everything. She comes back and sits him on the bed.

"What's up lil man." He yawns. "Still sleepy? Huh?" I pick him up and he rests his head on my shoulder. "His bag all ready?"

"Yeah."

"Here, take him while I take our stuff downstairs, you're done, right?" I hand him off to her.

"Yeah." I take both our bags and on my way downstairs the doorbell rings.

"I think uncle Kyle's here."

"Yeah. That's him." I go open the door. "Hey Kyle." I let him in.

"Uncle Kyleeee!" Riley runs to him and he picks her up.

"How's my favorite niece?"

"Good."

"Hey Kyle." Aaliyah says walking up to us with Nate in one arm and his backpack on the other.

Aaliyah gives the kids goodbye hugs and kisses and I wake them outside to get his car seat. I get Nate all settled in the car and give him a kiss on the cheek. I walk over to the other side to give Riley some love.

"Be good okay, remember the deal."

"I remember daddy."

"I love you."

"Love you too." I give her a hug and a kiss.

"Buckle up." I stand there while she puts her seatbelt on. "Thanks again Kyle."

"No problem baby bro. Enjoy the ESPYs."
