*gasps* "Look who's on the screen bubba." Aaliyah says when our FaceTime call connects.
"Hey lil man. Wassup?" He gets real excited when he hears my voice. He's not talkin just yet, but he tries hard as hell though, and makes a lot of noise. He knows how to say papa though. That was his first word. Apparently that was easier than "dada" and I'll take it any way I can.
"Pa...pa."
"You bein good for mama?"
"Tell papa yes." I smile. "What are you up to?" She asks.
"Nothing, just woke up from a nap."
"Did all the sightseeing tire you out?"
"It did. I didn't even know I was sleep that long."
"How long were you sleep?"
"I got back to my hotel around almost 4, and as soon as I got here, I crashed. It is now almost 8 o'clock."
"This time difference thing is so weird. It's almost 1 and the sun is out and shining."
"Have you made a dent in the wedding planning you were gonna do today?"
"I have. I finally made us an appointment to do some cake testing.."
"Oooo I'm excited for that. You know I love me some cake." I say with a cheeky smile.
"I'm talkin about...." She sighs. "Nevermind."
"Aye, I love it all baby." She rolls her eyes.
"Watch how you talk around my son..."
"He don't know what we talkin bout, and that's my son too chump."
"Chump, huh."
"I said what I said....chump."
"Colin, keep it up, and I'll show you who's the chump."
"I don't take too kindly to threats Miss Aaliyah."
"That's not a threat baby, that's a promise." She says then smirks. She'd probably beat my ass in a real fight because I'm not gonna hit her and she can throw hands, but in a play fight...I show no mercy, in the most gentle way of course.
"Just wait I'll Friday Aaliyah."
"Catch these hands, Colin."
"Yeah, right."
"What are you about to get into?"
"Nothing. Go get something to eat, come back to the hotel, and rest up. I have practice bright and early."
"Sounds like so much fun."
"FaceTime me when Riley gets out of school, I wanna see how her day at school went. I should still be up, and if I'm not, I'll wake up."
"Okay...we'll talk to you later then."
"Alright. I love you."
"Love you too...wave bye to papa." He waves his little hand.
"Bye lil man. I'll talk to y'all later."
"Okay." I hit end and hop up to get ready to leave. I put on a hoodie, with the hood over my head, grab the room key, wallet and phone and I'm out. I take one of the cabs waiting outside the hotel to the nearest chipotle.
