{Colin's POV} - Tuesday morning

It's been a day sense my MRI and I'm patiently waiting for the results. I should be getting them any minute now. The call finally comes there and it's worse than I thought. I've been playing with a torn labrum and I can only imagine that it's gotten worse considering I've been playing with it for weeks.

My people go ahead and get surgery and stuff set up for me, which will be Thursday morning. After getting the call, I head over to Aaliyah's to let her know what's up.

"Hey..." She says letting me in.

"Where's Nate?"

"He went back to sleep when we came home from dropping Riley off at school."

"I got my results back." I say sitting on the couch. She sits next to me.

"...and?"

"I'm scheduled to have surgery...and if they haven't announced it already, I'm gonna be put on season-ending injured reserve."

"You okay?"

"Yeah I guess so. You were right."

"It's not something I wanted to be right about. I just wanna see you be as healthy and successful as possible." She says making me smile. "Everything will be okay. You'll be back on the field in no time...and all the idiots counting you out will be eating their words."

"You know, I been thinkin a lot about what you said...about them trying to sabotage me.."

"Aaaand?"

"You may be on to something, but I just, I don't know. These rumors that they could release me are kinda scary, because they can."

"I thought you were on contract. They just can't cut you like that."

"Oh they can. That contract isn't ain't great as it sounds...well it doesn't sound great right now.."

"I'm not following, can you explain?"

"My contract is year to year, and if I don't perform well, they can let me go."

"What kind of a bullshit ass contract is that."

"A team friendly one that I took so that they can sign other players and build around me.."

"And have they done that...if they have, they've done a pretty shitty job....so what now?"

"I don't know." I shrug my shoulders. "I'm gonna play football regardless. But you gotta promise me something..."

"And what is that?"

"That if I do get cut and picked up by a new team, you and the kids have to move out there with me..."

"Colin..." She says with hesitation.

"Why you hesitating? What's there to hesitate about?"

"You didn't even give me time to answer."

"It should have been an automatic yes."

"Now hold up. I like it here. A couple hours away from your family...a short flight from my family."

"You have to promise me you'll relocate if it comes to that."

"I'll think about it."

"Fine...that's good enough. I won't hound you about it. I'd rather stay in your good graces while your thinking."

She smiles. "So when's surgery?"
