{Colin's POV}
Slowly opening my eyes, I look over and see Erin is sleeping next to me. I look at my phone and I have text message from Aaliyah, and attached is a picture.
Aaliyah💍👑: Missing you so much right now papi. Have a good day at practice. I love you😘
Then I look at the time and practice started 30 minutes ago.
"FUCK!"
"Colin, you okay?" A startled Erin asks, looking as if she just seen a ghost or something.
"I'm late for practice." I hop out of bed and throw on my shirt and shoes. "Got damnit."
"Give me like 5 minutes and I'll take you back to the hotel." She gets up and walks to the bathroom. I throw on my hoodie and sit down on the bed and wait. I sit with my head in my hands. "Okay, I'm ready."
We pull up to the hotel, and I don't even say anything to her, I just hop straight out and head inside...stopping by one of the cabs waiting to let him know to wait. I shower and get dressed in record time and get to practice.
When I get there, nothing gets said to me by the coaches...or players and practice goes as usual. It's not till afterwards when I get a talk from my coach. While everyone's walking off the field I get called back.
"I don't even wanna know why you're late today. If it happens again, you're benched."
I nod and head to the lockerroom.
"Yo, Kap. Where you been at man?"
"Yeah, you disappeared on us yesterday."
"Y'all know me. I keep to myself."
"Yeah, but being late to practice man...that's not you?"
"My alarm didn't go off. I don't know what happened." I say then grab my towel, soap and head for the showers.
After what seems like a long day of practice, I finally get back to the hotel and instead of crashing, I fight the sleep and decide to grab my tablet and watch film for this week. My phone starts ringing, and it's Aaliyah FaceTiming me. I hit the green button to connect us through.
"DADDY!!!"
"You seem full of spunk this morning bear."
"Only because I get to talk to you. I miss you!!"
"I miss you too baby girl."
"You look tired daddy."
"I am. I don't think I'm ever gonna get used to this time change thing."
"How come you didn't answer the phone yesterday?"
"I'm so sorry about that bear. I know I said to call and I didn't answer. It won't happen again, k? I promise."
"Okay."
"You look very pretty today."
"Daddy, I always look pretty."
I chuckle. "You are your mother's child."
"Heeeyy, I heard that. Go get your shoes on so we can go."
"Okay. Bye daddy."
"Bye baby girl. Have a good day at school."
"I will."
"There's my boy.." I say as he and Aaliyah pop up on the screen. He rests his head on her shoulder.
"Baby boy still a little tired...and cranky."
"And we know how that goes."
"Yeah..but I'll get some food into his system on the way to Riley's school, and he'll be out by the time we get back home. Problem solved."
"I'm ready mommy." Riley says in the background.
"I gotta go. Mommy duties."
"Alright...I'll talk to you later then."
"I love you."
"Love you too." We hang up and I toss my phone to the side.
It vibrates and it's a text from Erin. I toss it back to the side and it vibrates again. "What the hell." I say before grabbing the phone and opening the message.
Erin: I think we should talk about last night.
Erin: Whenever you're not busy.Me: we don't need to talk about anything. Last night was a mistake.
Erin: Didn't seem like one. Especially after everything you said.
Me: People tend to say shit they don't mean while fuckin.
Erin: So that's it?
Me: Yes. I have a fiancé, and two kids. A damn family. I don't need you fuckin that up. Last night is to never be talked about. EVER.
Last night, I may have said some things that I clearly did not mean. I love Aaliyah and that's who I'm spending the rest of my life with.
