YOU'VE BEEN WARNED.....
Emily waited with Roman outside of her home. Ryan had called Roman back and told him what happened. He thanked him but felt the jealousy eat at him. Had she discussed her problems with him?
They saw the lights of the car as it drove up the driveway. Emily had left the gate open. Both officers walked up to Emily and Roman. They had told Zayra to stay inside.
"Emily Hirsch?"
"Yes."
"Hello I'm officer Ramirez and this is my partner Officer Parker. I understand that you're Zayra's guardian."
"Yes is everything OK? Where's Zayra?"
"She's inside the vehicle ma'am. We found her intoxicated by her old neighborhood. Now I know she was upset about something, so instead of taking her in, I thought it best if I just brought her home and talked to you. I was the officer who saw her after she shot her father. I can understand how difficult it must be for her."
"Thank you officer for that." Emily answered. "And yes you're right, Zayra has had a difficult time lately."
"I thought so." He nodded. He made a signal for his partner to get Zayra.
Zayra walked out and walked straight ahead, she had sobered up by then. She ignored Roman and mumbled sorry to Emily. She said thanks to the officers and walked inside.
Roman followed her inside.
Her heart quickened wishing he'd leave her alone. She didn't want to talk to him, didn't want him around. He followed her up the stairs. She didn't bother closing the door he'd just shove himself in anyway.
Once they were inside she grabbed her hand and spun her around. His eyes dark his expression unreadable.
"Zayra"
"Roman," she bowed her head before looking back up at him, " I asked you to leave me alone. Please, I don't want to see you or hear anything you have to say to me." She said it quietly. She didn't want to fight anymore.
"I want to explain to you what happened." He reached for her and she moved back. He fist his hands. It hurt him not to be able to touch her.
She moved to change her clothes and he sat on a nearby chair. He looked at her move dejectedly around. Her shoulders slumped, her eyes down cast. He hadn't seen her this low since her family's funeral.
"Zayra I didn't know Damaris was going to show up at my house that day. I was asleep Zayra, I was tired no one was home so I laid down to rest. She must have let herself in."
She ignored him walked into her restroom. She quickly changed, brushed her teeth and hair. She removed her makeup and buried her tears. She didn't want to cry anymore. She was feeling hollow. When she walked out of the restroom, Roman was resting his elbows on his legs. A worried look on his face.
