Nico was excited, in a few weeks he will be officially touring.

Fuck yeah!

He walked up to pick up Zayra from school but saw her talking to Carlos.

What the fuck?

He knew what happened at the party. She had told him what happened. He took long strides, he wanted to see if she was okay.

"Sup Zayra." he had his hands on his pocket, looking at Carlos.

"Nico. Hey, what's up. You remember Carlos right?"

"Yeah. What's up man." he took his hand out, Carlos shook it. Nico squeezed a bit tight.

"Hey Nico, it's been a while." he saw the look of concern in his eyes and knew Zayra had told him what happened.

"So Zayra, are you busy?" he looked at Carlos. "I wanted to show you something?"

"Uhm." she looked at Carlos.

"It'll be quick Zayra." Carlos urged.

"I'll meet you at home?" She turned to Nico.

Nico nodded slowly, he didn't think it would be a good idea for her to go with him. He knew Roman had asked her to stop talking to him and he couldn't blame him.

"Are you sure?" he looked at Zayra but then at Carlos. His eyes narrowing a bit.

"Yeah I'm sure." Zayra didn't miss the look he gave Carlos. Carlos didn't seem to care. He was waiting for Zayra.

"Okay, I'll see you Carlos." he looked at Zayra once before making his way back inside his car.

He didn't feel right leaving them alone together. He sighed, Zayra would probably just blow up on him anyway. He smiled thinking about that scenario.

Well at least there was one cousin of Roman's he liked. And no it wasn't Carlos. He bit his lip and dialed Daniella's number. He had already memorized it. He set up the Bluetooth before driving away.

*******

Zayra and Carlos went to the same Cafe in Pasadena. She had liked the coffee from there and besides it seemed like a neutral place to go.

She kept thinking about Roman the whole ride there. She remembered his face and voice pleading her to not talk to him.

Why the urgency she had wondered.

They grabbed their drinks and sat, talking about crap really until he finally circled to the real issue.

"Look Zayra." he rubbed his forehead. "I'm really sorry about the party. I should have told you who I planned on taking with me."

"Yes you should have."

"You got to understand. Damaris and I have known each other before Roman started dating her. She was my friend. I always had a thing for her, but you know she went for Roman instead." he gave her a sad smile. "Well anyway, we've been talking for a few months now and well, I'm starting to like her very much."

He paused, gauging her reaction. She nodded for him to continue.

"Well, a few weeks before Roman's birthday, she told me that Roman reached out to her. He saw her in France somewhere, I can't remember. Anyway, she said he was asking her many questions and so I began to worry. Why all of a sudden the interest in her? I questioned her too. I asked her if she still had feelings for Roman and she assured me she didn't."

He blew out his breath. His fingers making nervous gestures on the coffee cup.

"Anyway, I wanted to be sure. Sure she didn't feel anything for him. Sure he didn't feel anything for her. If I'm going to start dating her, I mean really dating her, then I need to make sure. After all Roman and I, our paths will continue to cross. I mean seriously Zayra, he's my first cousin."
