*****NOT EDITED*****
Don Xavier noticed Zayra's mood. It had already been three days since Roman had found out about the arranged marriage. She smiled and spoke to everyone. She drank and danced and joked. Yet he saw her, he saw what she was really feeling.
So many years caring for the child he had learned to read her. She was sad and angry, familiar and easy feelings for Zayra to cling to. He sighed, upset about it all. He had spoke to his brother and Roman was also taciturn.
He was brooding again. It was funny to think of him as the brooding type but it was true. Ever since he began dating Zayra, no one saw that side of him anymore and now, it was back, everyone noticed.
On their first day in Mexico, Zayra wanted to see the company. He had set up a board meeting and introduced everyone to Zayra. Most of them remembered her as a child. After they went inside Lucia's office. It was exactly as she had left it. Nothing had been touched. Don Xavier had made sure they sealed it. It was for Zayra's eyes only.
He left her alone for about an hour, letting her go through her mother's things, memos, letters, songs, ideas schedules, her life's work. She had stopped going to Mexico a while back.
She would at the end hope to go once or twice a year. Don Xavier took care of everything else for her. He had fired and hired the staff until Lucia had felt it well suited her creative style.
Zayra saw their nerves, wondered if she'd clean house. During the meeting, they introduced Victor's band and had them play a few songs for them.
One of the producers was impressed, he said he was tinkering with some new material and offered to have them hear it in the studio.
They left smiling, Don Xavier assured Zayra that before the day was over they'd offer them a deal. It would be up to the band to offer.
Zayra took a trip to the studio that they had and remembered some things. She touched the door that led to studio and then the mixer. She began having flash backs about being inside.
She looked at this older gentleman, about the same age as Don Xavier. He eyed her as if he knew her.
"Antonio?" she was surprised that she remembered his name.
He smiled brightly, happy that she remembered. He was her mothers main sound engineer.
"Zayra, my god you are big." He moved closer to her. "Wow, you look so much like her."
She blushed. "Thank you."
"What brings you here?"
"Well, I wasn't even aware until recently that my mother owned this place. I guess I'm finally seeing her assets."
"Good for you, she worked really hard to keep it going. So now that you know you have this, will you be coming down and recording more of your songs?"
She smiled, happy that he knew about her. "Only if you promise to help me."
"I wouldn't have it any other way."
She continued with the tour a bit overwhelmed. Different feelings began to manifest themselves, making it hard for Zayra to breath.
On the second day, she spent more time inside her mothers office. She had so many songs, she mentally played them, reading the notes.
She asked Don Xavier if they could box some of it and send it home. She decided to keep a few and placed them inside of her purse. She would slowly read them she told herself.
Once satisfied, she went downstairs and saw Antonio working. He offered her headphones and asked her to listen in. She sat listening to the artist that he was recording. She went through about ten takes. He looked a bit upset.
