****NOT EDITED****
He was right, they had a wonderful day. They explored the 'cueva de las lechusas'(Cave of the Owls) then followed the river to a secluded area where they braked for lunch, the basket that Mimi had made for them had everything they needed to have a feast.
Roman and Zayra easily fell into the pattern of new romance. Secretly kissing her when he thought no one was watching. Caressed her hair and body, unable to resist her. He smiled shyly at her, amazed of how far they've come. He knew it was her age as well. She was getting older and was opening herself up to him.
They talked about school and the future. He told her that he still needed two more years of active duty in France and he needed to finish his education and earn his masters. He talked about the family business and his role. He didn't talk about their future together as a couple. He didn't want to scare her or pressure her. He wanted to take it slow with her.
He told her to please stay away from Carlos and to promise him no more kisses. If he tried anything else on her to let him know. He told her he was going to speak with Carlos and let him know to back off. That she was his. Zayra didn't understand why the possessive part of the conversation excited her. His dark gaze, filled with anger as he spoke about Carlos excited her too.
She knew he had a dark side, she had known him almost all her life and had seen it repeatedly. Yet that part of him pulled her closer to him. She understood anger very well, the rage and frustration, now together, they were experiencing something else and she enjoyed every second of it.
It was dark as they made their way back. The evening beginning to shroud them in its prismatic colors. They walked in silence, afraid that they magic would be interrupted.
"Are you staying over tonight?"
"Not tonight. I need to leave with my father on a trip. It shouldn't take more than two days."
"Oh." she sounded disappointed.
He scoot closer on the horse, his left hand around her waist. "I should have told you earlier but I didn't want to ruin it. I'll be back as soon as I can." his mouth began to tantalize her neck. Sending radiating heat to course through her body, her body anticipating more of his touch.
"Okay."
"Zayra...you don't know what you do to me. I know you're too young to understand some of the things and I know that emotions are something you don't always comprehend but as much as I'd like to rush head on in this we need to slow it down too." he felt her body stiffen.
"Why? I don't excite you?" she was speaking about how he made her feel. She wondered if he felt the same.
He groaned. "You have no idea." he murmured on her ear. They had separated from the group, they were a few yards behind. "I don't think I could stop myself, that's all. When you're around, I can't think straight. I don't want to scare you off with my emotions. But believe me when I say that I care deeply for you. I've loved you for so long that I don't want to loose you, especially now that I have you."
She nodded, trying to understand it logically it made no sense. Emotionally it didn't either. She just knew that she wanted more from him and he was keeping part of himself away. They saw the house looming and she sighed, knowing that the night would soon be over.
Quickly the stable hand helped them down and returned the horses to their place. Julian quickly ran to the house, hungry from the trip.
Maite, lingered behind with Rudy. Soon they would both be gone, Zayra saw her sisters pained face as she said good bye. She had to smile at this, who would have thought the two sisters would fall for the two brothers.
